I didnt say he was outstanding. A rational fan would call 21-7 out of your saturday/sunday starter a good career, but we arent dealing with a rational fan....

We have always been talking about college production more importantly last years college production. I sometimes highly things using professional examples because they make good comparisons.

I dont think he has a plus changeup like some people do here. I think his changeup is average ranging from 86-78. Mix that with his other off speed pitches and his off speed total is below average.
Mainieri disagrees. I specifically heard him discuss this during Bradshaw's freshman year. If his fastball was anywhere near upper 80s, he'd be very effective in college ball.
It pains me to think that Mainieri has to spend his time conversing with knownothings like yourself as part of his job.
I'll be anxiously awaiting your approval of Ott though as the season progresses. :notreally:

BTW you did say Bradshaw shouldve started game 2. Just wanted to point that out....

Correct. His standard for Ott is that he's not Trevor Hoffman or Eric Gagne.

Yeah they only reason is because Ross is a bum and at that point anyone would have been better than him. I see more upside to Ross though and this season he will be our #3 starter after the first 25 games.

Wow. If that is the case then you have been dominated in this thread worse than I originally thought.

I never said he should be Hoffman or gagne I said that is how some of you revere him.
Posted on 2/14/10 at 5:28 pm to WestCoastTigah
wow ok guy. im glad you endorse a guy you think is a bum as our #3 starter over a guy you think doesnt have "intangibles"
Posted on 2/14/10 at 5:30 pm to clownbaby
Ross has 10x more projectability than Bradshaw does and that is why I say that. Last year Ross was a bum but I expect big improvement out of him and Mainieri said it was coming so I believe him.

And still want to claim we're only talking about college production.
Gagne played one year of juco ball and I don't even think Hoffman was a closer in college.

Do you believe everything Mainieri says or do you just pick and choose?
Posted on 2/14/10 at 5:33 pm to MOT
No good pitcher in the major leagues was ever a closerin college. If you are not a starter in college I am sorry to say your career is on a dead end street. I never compared him to gagne or Hoffman I said that is how some of you revere him. He isn't like them. He hasn't proven himselfl.
Posted on 2/14/10 at 5:34 pm to clownbaby
I believe most of the things Mainieri says although alot of the time he is trying to be too PC and spits out prerecording lines he went over at home in front of the mirror.

False. You brought Gagne and Hoffman up when talking about stats and playing on bad teams. Why not compare him to other college pitchers?

A great closer is Trevor Hoffman or Eric Gagne both of which who pitched on terrible teams but still had the stats

Huston Street wasn't a closer in college?
Posted on 2/14/10 at 5:40 pm to WestCoastTigah
so has Mainieri said anything to make you think the crap youve been spewing about Coleman, Ott or Bradshaw?
Also, Houston Street was a closer in college and he got to the pros pretty quick and was named rookie of the year that year

Josh Fields doesn't project well to the majors either according to this idiot.
Posted on 2/14/10 at 5:42 pm to moneyg
I concede to Huston Street otherwise name one? Most of the time guys in the pros go to the bullpen whenever they realize their career is going to the shitter and need to rejuvenate their career.
