Holy shite. If CPM plays match-ups in the CWS and doesnt start Lange game 1, I will kick his arse and your arse just for saying it on this board

We have to play it this way if we want to win it all. The first two games are vital. Have to win game 2 as much as 1. I like saving Lange. Love it actually.
This.
Lange against Vandy will be needed IMO. And yes I'm assuming Vandy rolls. They are HOT.

TCU will start Preston Morrison against #LSU.
Starting a new thread about this kid.

So does this mean Vandy saves their ace to pitch against us in game 2?
O wait, they have about 5 aces.

He's a slower throwing righty. 88-89 mph. Slider.

The big thing though is that now you can only throw Lange once in the double elimination group. If he starts first you could probably throw him again if we needed him the next Saturday.
True, that is a price we pay, but now we have the opportunity to do that with Poche. If we're trying to squeeze 3 starts out of either Lange or Poche while in Omaha, I think Poche may handle it better. That may be another reason we're going with him.

his numbers are pretty solid, hopefully we bring the rbats

Pretty sure they were/are throwing their #2 Buehler vs CSF anyway (did not throw in supers).
We both win and we'll get Lange/Fulmer Tuesday night

Ballsy move by CPM to save Lange for a potential second game with Vandy, who's been red hot.
I don't think that is exactly what is happening. He's not taking a more risky path. He's just looking at game 1 and game 2 together and figuring out the scenario which gives LSU the best chance of winning BOTH.
Plus, I think he likes going back to Poche on short rest should LSU need to come out of the losers bracket more than Lange.

This will be interesting. I thought TCU would go with a Lefty to try to keep Stevenson and Laird's speed off the bases and sciambra out the DH spot.

It doesn't matter, you are throwing your top 2 no matter what, number of lefties in lineup makes it a no brainer. Poche is the more experienced guy as well even with no Omaha experience.

Vandy is not saving Fulmer.

He's also the most likely to be able to bounce back on short rest in case you need to pitch him in game 4 or 5 from the loser's bracket.
I was thinking the same thing. I think it has more to do w/ having him available if we slip up and fall into the loser bracket, or lose on the 19th. Plus, he could be available to pitch a few innings on the 24th (if he has to pitch on the 19th or 20th).

Damn i wanted a crack at him. Kinda hard to save him going vs Eschelman i guess.
