but I HIGHLY doubt we do better than 9-4 once again
So you think we go 2-3 with a schedule including Ole Miss and ULM remaining.
We are 7-1 with our only loss to the #1 team by a TD on the road.
You basically have as pessimistic of an outlook that is rationally possible. It is basically like you predicted LSU to go 7-5 and were proven wrong yet won't have any more faith in the team.
Also saying you must go to the SECCG once every three years is kind of a hard accomplishment when you consider there are other strong to elite programs. I mean each division has 3-4 solid programs fully capable of winning their division. People just need to be realistic.

i agree flagg. It's the performance on offense that has me mad though

Yeah I feel your frustrations.
I don't understand why Lee doesn't play more, but then certain moments in the AU game make me understand maybe a little more.
JJ ran the ball well on Saturday again and made some other plays. Lee getting hurt IMO shows why Les has been going with two QBs. He is fricking scared of a repeat of 2008. Where he went from great QB situation to nothing. It is almost like he would rather just go with average at beat and hope the rest of the team brings in the win.
I also don't get why our damn WR can't fricking catch the ball. Of course our QBs have thrown some bad and really bad passes; however, they have to catch the decent to good ones and there has definitely been a good number of them.
I don't understand why T-Bob continues to play guard.
Obviously Crowton is on the way out and I would love to be a fly on the wall in the offensive coaches meetings. He is definitely not well liked and I bet it is just a weird situation.
I still think the offense is capable of playing well, but it never seems to come together all at the same time. I criticize the players too much, but I feel we don't have a lot of offensive guys who seem to step up for us like we do on defense.

More like realistic, considering I'm basing it off of what we've seen the past 2 years

For fricks sake, think about this statement you just said. I mean really think about how stupid this sounds

Was listing to ESPN radio while driving an hour or so ago and they were defending Miles. Said people jump on Miles for making mistakes but Stoops and Ferentz made boners this week as well.
The program isn't as bad off as some are making it out to be. It isn't elite any more and hasn't been for three years but it's not bad. The disagreement is between people who want elite, and those who are happy with being good.

Well say there are three teams that are going to be in contention every year with comparable odds of winning. One team then pulls the upset one year and goes twice in three years. You look at just three years and one of the programs is left out. shite like that happens. Just look at the last 9 years of the SECCG.
Honestly you shouldn't be bitching until 2011 since it is a guarantee you could say Miles has averaged an appearance 1 every three years he has been the LSU coach.
Over the last 9 years Auburn, Arkansas, and Alabama have all been to the SECCG twice. Not an average of once in every three years.

What is considered elite and what is good?
There are 7 programs in the conference who have been to multiple SECCGs in the past ten years. 5 different programs with an SEC title.

People will continue to ignore and make excuses for the problem that is Les Miles until it's too late and we're losing in-state recruits again. Ignorance is bliss I guess. I realize we lost to a good team; however our offense has made no improvements all year and auburn was basically able to run the same play over and over again without any adjustment on our part. Anyone with any intelligence can't honestly believe we have a competent coaching staff in place. Yes the program is slipping.

We are now an also-ran in the SEC.
We are roughly .500 in the SEC in the last couple of years.
LSU has seen its last championship under Miles.

If slipping, then slipping out of the annual elites and into the niche once occupied during the Cholly Mac era... I call it the "always the bridesmaid" era, never the bride.

How can anyone say this? We haven't had a losing season since the 1990s
You can't use the bear minimum of having a winning season as some metric of success
Throw in a couple of rent a wins and a couple of SEC cellar dwellers a year and just having a winning season isn't anything special.

Of course it would look a lot better if we had a consistent offense but other than that, I don't see what the problem is.
That's like saying that you have a flesh eating disease but other than that you're pretty healthy.
It's not that the offense is mediocre. It's putrid. One of the worst in the country. And it can be argued that LSU has as much talent at skill positions as anyone in the country.
The problem is that the offense is severely under performing.

A lot of people here don't understand what the "Program" is.
They measure a program looking backwards at the W/L record. In fact, it is the opposite.
The LSU program is very strong. If Miles was gone tomorrow, the program would at least be as strong as when he took over...maybe stronger.

Well they finished ranked 5th and 3rd in the SEC in the final coaches poll for 2008 and 2009.
If you look at the record of 2009 and over half way through this year we are 9-4 (.692) in the SEC. We will most likely finish no worse than 10-6 and most probably 11-5. So basically you are a delusional idiot.

Yes it is.
Anyone who has watched football for 20 years or more understands that this LSU team is a case of Talent trumping Coaching (Or lack thereof)

Talent wise no, coaching on the offensive side, Hell yessssssssssssss!

If anything, this program is going in the right direction.
2007 - NC
2008 - 8-5
2009 - 9-4
2010 - ?
If we falter down the stretch like we have the last two years, then surely you aren't suggesting we're heading in the right direction are you?

Against teams .500 or better, LSU is 4-8. That's not competing or being in the mix.
- Take out the .500 teams. Since the NC, LSU's record against SEC teams with winning/currently winning conference records is...0-7.
Spot on. This guy answered your question. We are fans, we expect excellence, which by the way doesn't have to be 24-0 in the SEC over the last 3 years. However, it does have to be a winning record in the SEC as well as against the better SEC teams.
10-2 this year is a pipe dream. If you watched McNeese and Auburn, you either don't know the game or have already buried your head.
Check our record for the first 7 games over the last 3 years, and then our record for the last 4 games of the last 3 years. Thereis your answer.

One question. Name the last big SEC victory over a team ranked higher than us at the time? Better yet just name the last real quality SEC victory like this one could have been? Or Bama could be? A game that could get us back into contention.
It won't happen because Les only wins the ones he has the opponent totally outclassed in. Saturday the talent level was at least equal. How many times are we going to watch Top Gun and hope Goose doesn't die?
Yes it is slipping. We don't win the ones we absolutley have to. We didn't even do that in 2007. Ark. should have sunk us. We are becoming an also ran in the West, much less the on a national level.
We have lost 6 of the last 9 against the group we are getting ready to play - our home stretch - Bama, UM, Ark. My guess is we stay with that 33% winning percentage this year. That puts us at 5-3 and we all know it could have just as easily been 3-5.
