I’ve done it many times. They will have lot blocked with cones and you just show person there your email confirmation and they will let you in.

Cool. Thanks for the reply, that makes me feel better… I wasn’t too worried about it but glad to know they actually reserve the reserved parking places lol

Parking at MSY sucks all year. Holiday weekend even worse. I usually don’t even look and just go straight to economy at the old terminal. Add 20 minutes for shuttle and travel time.

If you go to MSY webpage they give you parking spaces available in all lots.

Meanwhile, Houston Hobby (HOU) has plenty of parking. (sigh) I love my home state, but jeez.

Oh, it’s not just them. Orlando parking is almost always full. Think about how much parking is at Orlando International. They opened a third terminal and bam….parking full 24/7.

575 spots currently in economy and for most major domestic airlines, you can check your bags there and skip the counter at the terminal

Don't overthink it.

Easy peasy… I just stayed right for short-term parking, stopped at the cones, showed the guy my QR code, and he let me in

Someone explain this to me…..when the new airport was built it added a ton of new parking, and the original airport was reserved for LT parking. Parking seems worse now than it was at the old airport before the added parking.

Did they shut down LT parking at the old airport?

Nope. The new terminal has long term as well, the parking at the old term is their economy parking. It's still has a few hundred spots, all covered parking, baggage check for most major domestic carriers and a shuttle that takes about 15 minutes that drops off right at departures.

If you park in the cheaper long term lots, they require a shuttle and you have to build in a lot of time.

If you park at US Park on vets its a lot quicker and easier than parking at the airport. Not to mention a hell of a lot cheaper.

Lots of spaces: LINK

Economy Garage is flat $12/day (no taxes). Free shuttle 24/7. Plan an extra 30 min. to get to the terminal.

Thanks for the heads up. I started parking off site so I could get door to door and reserved covered parking about a year ago. I never see the counter. Just crazy how the options dwindled so quickly.

I parked over by the economy lot at MSY and it took less than 15 minutes for the bus to drop us off at the new terminal.

Why wouldn’t they have just built a parking garage that could fit everyone at the new airport?

The new garages hold 30% more than the old ones. Demand for flights has exceeded everyone’s expectations. The number of people flying is up dramatically since Covid.

It’s just growth in airline travel. New MSY has roughly 8,000 parking spaces. In comparison ATL has 30,000 and they are tearing up existing lots to rebuild and add more capacity.
