Something we can agree on! You seem really uptight. Loosen up.

I was not required to live on campus as an out of state freshman in 2011. Things may have changed..

Wouldn't trade my dorm experience for anything.

Dude you have been a member since 2013 and you have over 500 posts.
If you thought this would go any other way than it did you’re not very bright and threatening people like a keyboard warrior won’t win you any friends here.
And before you say you don’t care apparently you do to respond to so many people like a Johnny badass.
Hope your daughter was treated better than that at home and hope she gets a positive LSU experience.

If I wanted to google it or knew to do that, i would have you prick! That's why i asked on here and if you don't want to give me an answer, that's cool (Don't comment at all). Man, i really love LSU, but how can there be so many smart-arse losers in one place?
You're welcome a-hole

You will be surprised the comments you will get from this. Don't worry though, they are mostly virgins.

She can live at home and commute since her dad is a Jew.

Really? What are you asking for then, hero? Asking as an “idiot” because it seemed like you wanted an exception to the rule. Or, just go with the alternatives if it is making you this bitter. God bless, my friend.

If she's living at home and commuting there should be no issue. Even when I started LSU in 86, it was pretty easy to avoid the dorms if you were hell bent on it. Of course, I was from waaaaaay out of state and dorm life was easier for me. I moved to an apartment my junior year and my grades immediately suffered. Moved back into the dorms after one semester away and got things straightened out quickly.
Campus life in one of the residence halls definitely helps with the academics. Campus life in one of the fraternity or sorority houses can be either a help or a hindrance depending on the organization. (I've dealt with that as well.)
If you live within commuting distance, home is a good place, but allowing her to live in a dorm on campus will give her some independence and a little bit of a sense of responsibility for herself. That's a huge part of college studies and making the move toward independence without being tossed out the door on her 18th birthday.
Give RHA (Residential Housing Authority) a chance to show that they can be of benefit to your daughter's academic success. Campus life is important to incoming freshman who all need to adapt to the way of life at a good university.

That's not correct. You can live off campus.

I just looked it up and you must if your address is more than 50 miles from campus.
But it says a new student who never took college classes. So go take a summer class before fall enrollment at another university and you can get out of it......
Who
A full-time, first-year student at LSU is defined as a student who has graduated from high school and has not attempted any college coursework. Dual enrollment courses do not qualify as college coursework.

Not uptight at all, just expect actual answers to an actual question that will affect me and my family. Not much to ask, but it doesn’t matter. Thanks for the real answers! Geaux tigers!

I met half of my closet friends in my freshman dorm. Would highly recommend.
