Leon's "quickness" is overrated since he sometimes takes a second to judge where the ball is going
im pretty sure my memory serves me correctly on this one, but if im wrong someone let me know. last year in the elmination game i believe against unc there was a bases loaded situation where leon had a horrible read on the ball and allowed it to get to the wall and score all 3 runs. pretty sure we lost that game by 2 or 3. i believe the speed aspect of mahtook and landry are the same, but mahtook is much more of an instinctive player. i saw someone say that have yet to see mahtook sacrifice his body to make a play. maybe thats bc mahtook puts himself in situations where he doesnt have to dive or slide bc he is already there to make the catch. there was a do or die play in yesterdays game but he slipped on his 3rd or 4th step and it would have been pointless for him to lay out. i dont see how we are any worse with nola at short, than with landry in center. we are 8-1 since the lineup change. hard hit balls dont show up in the line score, and nola has had a few. all you get with leon is k's and popups. if he would make the slighest adjustment and start hitting the ball on the ground it would make a world of difference. i like the changes that were made and feel confident with where the team is going.

you obviously missed the stat where, it proves nola and leon are striking out at the same rate

he is not ready, when you are hitting below 240, you need to be on the bench

except 1 is a SS, and one is an OF
. We are better with Mahtook in the OF because he has shown to be a better offensive player than Landry, and just as good, if not better on defense.

Looking at some of the recent box scores it looks like Nola is getting hits in innings where everyone else is hitting, so he is keeping rallies going and holding momentum. I've seen a lot of his outs as either the first out of the inning or the last out of a 1-2-3 inning. It always seemed like Landry was killing rallies with a big K if he got up with guys on base before he got pulled.

i guess what i also missed is where i said nola was a superior hitter. there are 2 postions on the baseball field where you can sacrifice defense for offense imo, and that is catcher and shortstop. gibbs hasnt exactly set the world on fire with the bat this year. with the starting pitching me have, and the seven other hitters in that lineup i am ok with having some defensive studs in there. if we cant manufacture enough runs with those 7 guys, sprinkle in what you can get out of gibbs and nola, with louis or ranaudo on the hill then we dont deserve to win.

i personally think landry is a better CF
the only person taken out of the lineup would be Nola. Hell you could even put landry in right mitchell left mahtook in center
if it was me:
LF Mitchell
RF Mahtook
CF Landry

its debatable whether or not landry is a better CF, but its not debatable that we are better in the infield with Nola.
Mitchell, Mahtook, and Schimpf is a good defensive outfield that can hit. Outfielders need to hit the ball well, at SS its just a luxury

i just dont understand, sacraficing offensive so that in 1 out of every 3 games one ball is caught that wouldnt have been. Nola has been up in many spots wiht RISP and e has failed. He's young and will be great, but he's just not ready

we really aren't sacrificing offense because Landry has been a terrible hitter as well this year. I would like to see their SEC stats side by side

yea, i'm going to go ahead and take back what i said earlier. Although he still plays SS, which is a position that can sacrifice offensive production for (unlike CF)

we've won games because of that defense and Nola plays Shortstop, not the outfield. Landry regressed, Nola can only go up from here on out.
