If I’m getting an Airbnb what neighborhood should I be looking to book in? In terms of proximity to the stadium

I recommend looking into the shuttle buses as a way to get to and from the game. Price is reasonable and there are several pick up/drop off locations around town. I am hoping for a night game.

Good location relative to the "action" (6th Street is the place) and should be able to walk to the game
Good luck with that hike..... It's mostly up hill and not a pleasant walk in September when the temp is around 97+..... Texas likes to get games around 11 am or 2 pm. I hope for LSU fans sake its a night game. The stadium has little ventilation and it is a hot one. So scrap the walking for me. JMO!

There are homes back off 18th Street area. I don't know if they are Airbnb but check around there.
Check the West campus area in general. If I had to guess there will be plenty of college kids sub leasing homes in the neighborhood.
ETA: if you're not familiar with what I mean by West campus area you should be able to type "West campus Austin" in a Google search and it will highlight the area for you. Good luck!

East Austin has some great spots (east of I-35). 6th st and rainy is just a wannabe lame bourbon and Frenchman st.

Stay west of airport, north of the river, nowhere further north than Hyde park and east of highway 1. And then you are pretty close I feel. There are a ton of scooters you could ride to the stadium called lime, jump, and bird. And then there is lyft, rideaustin, and uber here too. But Austin is pretty easy to walk around and there are bike rentals scattered around.

If you just want to get drunk and possibly get into a fight, then E. 6th is your spot
No. That’s dirty 6th, which is between congress and red river. E 6th (east of I35) is fine and nicer places, though a little hipster. West 6th (west of Guadalupe) is also fine.
With all the scooters now, you should have no trouble getting to the game from wherever downtown. You can always Uber if needed.

Have all of the games booked. Texas will be a fun one.

My point, was that you should basically avoid 6th altogether...

Just booked our AirBnB. That's half the battle. Now game tickets...
Not going to pay $220 for nosebleeds like they are showing on stub hub. Will tough it out with scalping tickets.

West Campus, Hyde Park, Rosedale
Really anywhere north of Oltorff, south of 183, east of Mopac, and west of 35 would work. But those 3 neighborhoods are close to campus.

Had a reservation fall through, but got the last room about 3/4 mile from the stadium.
Now to find the tickets ..... when the time is right.

Anyone know what the tailgating scene is like? Thinking about going just to tailgate then find a bar to watch the game.

I'm more concerned about the time the game will start since I only have to drive from west side of Houston. If it's an 11am or 6pm kickoff, then I'll need a hotel. If its 230, then I can drive in and out in one day.
