Nah..wasn't a sellout. As per this thread, a bunch of Gridiron Club insider wannabes were there, and one poster who snuck in by claiming he was in the club. That was about it for the attendance.

"They had some shorter punts that concerned me at first but I believe they may have been trying to pooch it inside the 20"
Rant=ON --- Pet Peeve-- why in the world does anyone try to pooch it inside the 20. Last time I looked, it wasn't illegal to punt the darned thing out of bounds. As long as you get it out of bounds anywhere inside the 20, it's better than a touchback. And if you kick it out-of-bounds, there is 0(zero, nada, none) run-back yards.

Gumbeaux, it has been so long since someone at LSU used the art of directional punting that most on this board would not recognize it if they saw it.

You mean those guys that couldnt kick it straight?

actually, Chris Jackson was the best i've ever seen at Directional punts. Arguably the best we've ever had

Talking to a guy I work with whose neighbor was at the scrimmage. Some impressions he had:
Lee would throw 3 great passes, then 2 not so great. Did not handle pressure well.
Hatch does not have a major college arm. His being in the game will be limiting to our play calling.
JJ has a gun, but there is still a question where it will fly off his hand. Definitely the future, may not be ready for primetime.
Jai spent much of the time doing his Jason David impression. PP and likely even the RS freshman will be ahead of him sooner rather than later.
Perry Riley showed we are not Beckwith and the other guys at LB. Apparently he really looked good.
We have so much talent at safety is is scary. The talk about playing one or more of them in place of a LB against the spread might have some credibility.
While the DL is strong, we need Alexander in there to be at our best. His clogging up a couple of blockers opens things up for the rest of our guys, although RJF is a beast without any help (not too shocking)
RB's split, although KW got a lot of time on the pine after PP punched the ball out of his hands. Still in good shape here.
All in all, it sounds like the QB slot is still a big ? (hate to give Gilbleaux any props), but talent level, absent a Beckwith or Ciron Black going down, should keep us in the chase.

Eh, i would say more like 5 great passes then 1 bad pass. He was more consistent than i've seen a QB throw in a scrimmage in some years. Very impressed with his accuracy. As for handling pressure, that IS his biggest problems. He had some incredible TD's while throwing under fire, but at the same time 2 of them could have easily been sacks. He does have the Jb tendency to throw unbalanced whne getting pressured.

Unfortunately, i agree. He only threw 4-5 passes that i saw. None of which were impressive. The only one he threw down field was a duck that sailed over a wide open Lafell's head on a skinny post. He helps us in the running game, but he's going to kill us if we ever need his arm.

He has the tools, but that is very debateable. He's got piss poor mechanics and his passes really are inaccurate in game settings. Made alot of FRESH mistakes, but i really like the guy. He's the prototypical QB for Crowton to mold, but he's not there yet. RS definately has a chance to replace him if his passing is improving.

I think Lee's best throw of the day was when he hit Byrd on the sideline. The coverage wa good but that was just a perfectly placed ball.

Dont completely agree but dont completey disagree, either

For sure. He's huge.

Agreed.

Woods, Favorite, etc will be great. We never really saw the 1st time DL all at once. Having Alexander would be nice, but considering the length of his injury, i dont think he could be as good as he was right now.

QB is always gonna be a big ? when you've got (virtual) FRESH playing, but like i've said, Lee calmed my nerves about his ability in the passing game.

Jai just still doesn't look comfortable. especially when you compare him to a guy like PP who just looks like he was born with the sole purpose of becoming a shut down CB.
and yea this will be our best group of LBs in a while

"Are you a socialist?" Yep, 3 tours in Iraq and one in Afghan will do that to you...
Ha, What's really ironic is I am in Gridiron club..but not to pay to go to practices..
Nope, in Germany conquering one brewerie at a time!

I dont know. They had quite a few troubles with coverage.
Run stopping-- I would think so. But i really do thnk CJ needs to be like a hybrid of sorts for the passing game. A rover, if you will
