RP blames LSU for holding him back, but as an LSU student at that time, I blamed him for holding us back, aka he left us with 4 years of JJ. I like RP, he was a cool dude, but he only has himself to blame.

agree with this 100%

who know what LSU would have been with him under center in 2008-2009

And like you, I was a fan of RP. Played against him in HS and just knew he was going to be a star in the NFL

Did the writer leave out him being interviewed by the secret service?

The Secret Service investigates counterfeiting, as Billy Cannon found out the hard way.

No wonder he can't get his passport in order!

I agree after the 07 championship I was saying just wait for RP in 08, but let's all be real he was gone after 08 to the draft.

We would have had a 3rd year player in lee, a 2nd year player in JJ, or a 3 year player in hatch starting in 09 and 10. Might have turned out different with addition year of prep work for these guys and no tellng who might have come in to challenge these guys.

RYAN PERRILLOUX is the frick-up.
clm HAD to get rid of his arse.

08, 09 AND 10 could have been 10, 11, 12, or 14 win seasons.

please, everyone, read and reread and reread this thread (again and again,) until it sinks in how fricking GREAT clm is.

clm could be close to a 90% winner!!

I've known this since rp got booted!

I wouldn't call losing out on Robert Lane significant to the arc of LSU football. RP getting the boot however may well have cost LSU a championship.

Nah Lane was in the class with Russell. Most of you that we're around back then re,beer the last minute switch once Russell committed. RP was a few classes later.

less important players get 1, 2 chances and they're gone

I am not an NFL general manager, but I would think if Perilloux was talented enough to work at his craft by studying film and having a Peyton Manning type work ethic, that somebody in an NFL front office, would sign this guy and allow him to possibly start in a regular season game. I don't think RP is being dissed in some way. If you have game and a good head on your shoulders, opportunities are endless.

The most successful quarterbacks in the 2013 NFL season were guys who "got it" and who didn't blame their college coach or their teammates for their own problems.

Drew Brees, Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Russel Wilson, and Colin Kaepernick all have something in common. All have a drive to learn and to grow and not feel entitled to a job. Andrew Luck is another guy with a strong work ethic. These guys don't blame their teammates or coaches. They look for ways to get better. They don't settle for anything less.

Lot of pathetic people in this thread.

Yes. But also having been a huge fan of Perriloux, it was painful to watch his self-destructive drama unfold. He was a big reason for the National Championship. He was in the perfect spot. Could have made a fortune with his talent. He just couldn't keep it together. It was a classic tragedy.

I read an article on him when he was at JSU that said he knew he did wrong and didn't blame Miles or anybody else. And I believe there is more to this story.

His "flags" and ultimate dismissal ushered in the Jefferson years. No pity for him. He didnt hold up his end of the deal.

SIAP

How good is Jimbo at recruiting and analyzing QB's?
Russell, Flynn, Perriloux
Ponder, Manual, Winston

I wonder if Miles would have more supporters if RP had played his final 2 yrs here?
He was good, couldve been very good. The game he played against Tenn was impressive.

I know I'm late in this thread, but this is a damn good article. I remember exactly where I was when each of these things were happening. Hard to believe that it was that long ago.

2008 is completely different with Perrilloux under center, we win b2b Nattys imho, but on the plus side we got to see what kind of man Les Miles was...wonder if he does it differently in retrospect?
