Their "ace" on Saturday was typically the Friday starter, all year. Their genius coach put the Friday starter in a situation where he was in a do or die game, and it's at the college world series against LSU, that he "didn't think much about." The Friday starter doesn't have that kind of pressure, normally, they just get to go out and pitch. He was frazzled and was easy to see by the look on his face.
The loss is on the coach as the game was also "too" big for him, and the team fed off his energy. All hat and no cattle...

A coach who bullies the umpires when they are trying to work especially behind the plate like he did that whole season, needs to be humbled. This ejection wasn't a single event for him. This happened for a reason. From the info I got , he has been this way to many umpires in the Sunbelt constantly berating them in a attempt to get plate guys to fear him in order to get more ball calls behind the plate. I've seen and anyone who is/was around baseball enough has seen his M.O.. They are bold coaches until their power is stripped, then they react the way he did during and after at the press conferences.
Ive gained respect for Jay because i know several times and understand the situation where he bit tf out of his lip to remain in the dugout. We can all learn that remaining professional when you dont want to only benefits everyone in the long run. Thats the hardest thing to do as a coach when you dont agree with an umpire and have to remain composed. No one is perfect but Schnall had it coming.
Here is "my" different perspective in one word
Schnall can suck it and if your reading this you know exactly wtf im talking about.

It's time to let this rest. People still talking about this like this was why they lost, is ridiculous. Great teams win but most importantly lose with grace.

It was well written. Thanks for sharing.

Never meant to imply that the ejection was the reason for LSU winning. Just wanted to give my take on the unfortunate event.

And he should have. When the umpire gives the bench a warning he owes the head coach an explanation of why not just say get back in the dugout. The umpire refused to give him a reason and escalated it to an ejection.
OR, he could've used his brain instead of his emotions and turned around when he heard "this is your second warning." He heard that and still got confrontational.
Say what you want about the ump, but multiple warnings were issued and ignored because a grown arse man couldn't handle defeat.

Agree, so could the home plate umpire, pure.

If he had acted like a professional, he could have stuck around to watch his guys get swept.

The problem is the umpire doesn't have too, he gets the last word right, wrong or otherwise.
They bragged for a month about stealing strikes from weak plate umpires and finally ran into one with an ego to match his BS. FAFO, and CC's coach was on the losing side and found out.

Do you always make excuses for people in the wrong?
What % would you say the CC coach is for his own actions?
And for those of you who point out this umpires reputation it makes it more inexcusable. So the coach either didn't do pregame research on him or he chose to ignore it or he's just stupid or he can't control himself.

Coastal's program ethos is one of "disrespect". To some extent that isn't off-base. Most SEC fans, including many LSU fans before the CWS, dismissed them as just a Sun Belt program who doesn't play anyone. Particularly competition equal to the SEC. That perpetual chip on your shoulder mentality can be a great motivator. Hell, you see every year countless fans on the The Rant try to talk about how LSU is "disrespected" despite pretty much every college baseball fan outside of LSU recognizing LSU has been the best program in the nation for the last 40 years.
But when you view everything through a prism of "disrespect" even things that aren't "disrespectful" are seen as slights that require a harsh response. Coastal went into the CWS finals with the mentality they were going to show Goliath they belonged and were better. Then they got shutout in Game 1. That was a blow to the ego and a game where they (to some degree) thought the member of the "baseball royalty" club (LSU) of which they (Coastal) don't belong was getting favorable calls. It was an attitude of "You see! They are trying to screw us because they don't want us in the club!!!"
The next day the season is on the line, and they weren't backing down! That attitude though brought with it a sense of the manager not taking any "disrespect". And it was disrespectful to give the 1B coach a warning. It was disrespectful to give the Coastal dugout a warning. It was disrespectful for the ump to tell the HC to essentially shut up because the Ump didn't want to eject him. But when you are being "disrespected" you can't consider the circumstances...a successful stolen base in the bottom of the 1st in a 0-0 game. You simply can't let any one disrespect you...no matter how irrational and inconsequential the argument may be at that time. So you have to fight an unnecessary and unwinnable fight (the ump wasn't going to change any of his prior ball/strike calls) to prove you aren't going to be pushed around.
It's like the bozos that want to fight with the cops about an otherwise minor infraction. They aren't going to "win" the fight with the cop. It only results with them getting roughed up and tossed in the back of the car. Then they get to jail and blame EVERYONE else for the consequences except themselves...all of which could have been easily avoided.
