quote:You create profit by sales less expense, not by big brother putting more money in your account. How would baseball use that 7 to 8 million to create more revenue? You are already selling out home attendance, right? You already have sponsors buying ads and donating score boards(UFCU). You can't control tv revenue by putting more money in the budget? Only thing I can think of is taking on a lot of long term debt and tearing down the baseball field and building one with more seats?
Really cannot wait to go back to WBB being irrelevant so we only lose $4 mil and we can put that extra money into MBB so maybe we can start making $7-$8 mil+

The TV contracts are bigger for MBB than WBB or baseball. But definitely not the crowds.

Only b/c of the tv contracts for March Madness. Currently they have to be hemorrhaging money from tkt sales, concessions, and merchandise from the PMAC. Imagine the money the program could generate with a good coach.

Kind of crazy that baseball didn't profit, but it's not structured as a profitable sport.
The baseball team usually breaks even. It loses money when they go to Omaha (2 1/2 weeks) or have to travel for Regional and Super Regional.
Baseball also loses money because the school refuses to raise ticket prices. They could prob raise the price 50-100% and still sell out. Same for WBB and gymnastics.

WBB puts more butts in the seat, and when they start making tv money this year they won’t lose much if any

And that's where college baseball just can't ever compete.
They have tried for decades featuring regular season games on ESPN and the like and the ratings just never justify it. The CWS is the only time tv ratings spike and honestly, if LSU ain't in it - it's not gonna spike as much.
College baseball will never get tv contract money near what even men's basketball gets because outside LSU and a very, very select few other schools the interest in college baseball is almost non-existing and the tv ratings abysmal.

MBB makes more money from ticket sales than WBB. Maybe more butts in the seats for the women, but not as much cash in the till.
