Nebraska vehemently disagrees with you.

Nebraska's first five or six options turned them down after the way Solich was treated and they settled for Callahan who brought them to a level of suck unimaginable to corn husker fans.

Not made up, just a cold hard fact.

My best moment as an LSU fan was after the Cotton Bowl loss to Texes in 2003, My seat was by the Tunnel Exit and I gave the biggest cheer I could while Michael Clayton and Marcus Spears (the last two LSU players who had lingered on the field) were walking off and into the tunnel. I enjoyed that more than being in the upperdeck of the Sugar Bowl the about a year later.

It's the journey, not the destination.

Okay - based only on the vast computer-like calculating powers of my mind, here are my odds of what type of coach(s) LSU would end up with if they fired Miles after this year:

15% - LSU ends up with a "top coach". Consitently end up in the top 5-10. SECCG every 2-3 years. NCG every 4-6 years.

45% - LSU ends up with a coach who bounces from say 8-4. 9-3 to 10-2. Maybe a 7-5 every few years. Wins about 50% of bowl games (usually in years we go to the mid level or lower bowls). Make it to the SECCG every 5-6 years. Probably not to the NCG within the first 10 years.

40% - LSU goes on a 10-20 year walk into the wilderness, going through a variety of coaches that don't work out. One might not recruit well, one might not gain the respect of his team. One might lead us down the NCAA no-nos path. Records are mediocre- mostly in the 6-6, 7-5 range though an 8-4 or even 9-3 pop up once in a blue moon.

Good man. Props. Seriously.

Coaches are so much about power and control, that they're the last ones who will realize or admit when the ball has dropped on their schemes.

You can never get one these people to face reality.

Most people on this board love it when coaches dress down players for stupid mistakes, or just mistakes, or sometimes things that they can't even control.

But when a fan does it to a coach, it's somehow out of bounds?

No, it's the coaches who need the reality the most.

It'll never occur to Gary Crowton that neither of our QBs have improved since their freshmen years or that he's wasted the time of everyone on the offense.

Miles has gone from lazy coach speak to outright misrepresentations about issues such as the Ole Miss game (blaming JJ) and recently the situation with Ford, claiming that they "have certain calls that work better with Blue." What do you call that? BS? Lying?

Miles has absolutely no respect for the fans or his players when he does stuff like this. So I have no sympathy for him when the guy in Atlanta calls him out. That's probably one of the few moments he's had to deal with reality.

Two responses: since when was the standard for good fans Yankee and Phillies fans. Philly fans booed Santa Claus. We're supposed to be LSU fans.

Second, wouldn't it be ironic if Miles wins another title or two and someday someone is making your point using LSU fans and how we treated Miles as the example.

The Yankees have a few championships.

The expectations of the fans isn't a coincidence.

See, that's the mentality that kills LSU. Sarcastically referring to us among the elite as if to suggest we have no business being there. There's no fricking reason in the world why we can't be in that elite class. No reason except the unwillingness to demand and expect to be there.

i think all hes saying is that we dont have some divine right to be top 5 every year. and that schools like Texas, Ohio State, Miami and USC have huge advantages over us.

college football is really god damn hard. winning a title is damn near impossible. we all expect to win it every year, because LSU is a great program with an embarrassing amount of natural talent all around it, but it's incredibly hard. if you dont win the NC, it doesn't mean your HC is some a-hole who screwed everything up and you need to start firing everybody.

Talk about negativity. Why would expect that to happen? If Miles is fired, it is just as likely (if not more likely) that LSU will hire a good coach who will consistently win championships.

i know others have already said it, but youre an idiot. you and the person OP talked about in the SI article are the personification of everything thats wrong with some LSU fans.

if texas, frickING TEXAS, couldnt find a coach to win a title for 35 years, it's because winning a title is damn near impossible. when john mckay won 4 NCs between 62 and 74, do you think USC fans pictured the 80's and 90's to go the way they did.

florida was 6th in offense last year. theyre 92nd this year. do you think urban meyer got dumb over the summer?

that was rhetorical by the way. the answer is no. the answer is, "no, florida is struggling because college football really god damn hard."

Do you honestly believe that Saban and Meyer are the only coaches in the entire country who could consistently win championships in the SEC?

In the last 20 years only 3 coaches have won multiple NCs for the same program.

Osborne, Bowden, and Meyer

So please explain your line of thinking.

Also the SEC is loaded with the most player talent, coaching talent, and big programs out of all the conferences in the nation.

Coach/# SEC Titles/SEC Tenure

Spurrier/6/18 seasons
Saban/3/9 seasons
Richt/2/10 seasons
Meyer/2/5 seasons
Miles/1/5 seasons
