You didnt do anything wrong. So what they are saying, is if you go to Grad School somewhere else you cant wear LSU stuff and must pull for the new school??

While in Arkansas for the hurricane i wore all LSU stuff for a week. I got dirty looks, but everyone there is just really dirty looking so maybe it was natural for them.
No smiles were given, at least i didnt see any teeth, but then again its Arkansas.

Although I still think you are asking for an arse whipping, I gotta admit I wore my LSU gear almost every day while attending ULL. Difference there was, about half the other students on campus also had LSU plastered from head to toe.
