So what are you basing this off of? The fact he inherited a bad defense in 2005 and his offense was horrible putting his d in horrible spots? Or maybe the 06 year where he had to find 4 new d line starters. And 07 he hired a DC. His offense is why they sucked.

So he can't compare him to someone who went through what he did but yet u can compare 2016 DC Orgeron to 2005-06 Head Coach/DC? Seems fair.

If I remember correctly, a horrible offense didn't do Ole Piss's D any favors.

I could be wrong, but I don't think Orgeron was ever a DC.

Steele is close to qualifying for his pension in the state of Alabama.

Huge for him post-retirement.

Bring on Coach O as DL/DC.

Tell me this, what makes you think Ed Orgeron will be a good defensive coordinator for LSU?

Just a hunch?

You want to hire someone who MIGHT be a good DC IF they've learned from past mistakes?

You don't want someone who is a proven DC at several stops?

You are all blinded by Orgeron's good ole Louisiana boy personality, recruiting, and the DL coaching. Being a good DL coach is NOT a qualifier to be a DC at a top 5 program in the country for your first stint. Its just not.

Coach O was HC/DC in 05 and 06. He hired Thompson for 07.

I'm sure he learned how hard it is to do both. But yes. Their offense was ranked under 111 in all areas in 05 and 06.

I believe he will be a great DC at LSU. Not just good. His focus is pass rush. With the DBs we have and his scheme of getting pressure on qbs it's a sure thing.

U really said he is a good d line coach? He's better than good. Lol.

Looks like another case of Miles helping Steele "find a more appropriate fit."

Depending on the hire/promotion, I'm not disappointed.

I thought Steele had a good defensive game plan last night. Who ever decided to bring Beckwith down to end was spot on.

I think he could have done a better job of doing blitz contain. Lets be honest here, LSU didn't have to do much to stop that offense. LSU's secondary has more talent than Tech's receiving corps. Tech has speed, but they aren't great route runners. Also, Tech's offensive line is dog crap and LSU has a great deal of talent up front. Key's speed, quickness and agility was perfect for that type of pass happy team. Beckwith being coming down playing the quick passes was smart as well. Overall, LSU had the speed and athletes to disrupt anything Tech was trying to do.

Have you been paying attention the last few years?

We're far from a "top five" program.

Recruiting is what we need right now.
The defense I saw last night was great against a great offense.

No reason to lose the recruits we have in place to take a chance on a new DC that may or may not be the answer for LSU.

Call up Bob Shoop. Get Clancy Pendergast on the phone. What's Dick Labeau up to these days? Who's got the tail number of the LSU jet?

We're gonna party like it's January 2015

these lateral moves just make for bad optics for LSU

Giving up 20+ points in 10 of 12 games this year made for worse optics.

Lol yea right....
Les has that much pull...

Peveto and Mallory both found HC jobs

Crouton Found Maryland (we may have fired him though)

Brick was moved to an administrative position till he found a new job

He doesn't get them a new job, but we never fire them, we tell them to look for something else.

So, let's discuss that.

Did he not tell Les Miles that that would be a consideration and he would leave if any future jobs came up in Alabama?

If so, did Les hire him, anyway?

Something is really quite turdy on Steele's part or quite dumb on Les's part.
