Etling's low TD number is certainly the weakest point of his resume, but there are a lot of variables that go into that.
The strongest points of his resume are:
-lowest interceptions per attempt in the SEC (one INT every 104 attempts)
-4th-best completion percentage (61.1%)
-5th-best yards per attempt (7.36 yds/att)
So if your QB is gaining lots of yards per attempt, and isn't turning the ball over, does the TD total matter that much?
Another thing people don't realize...There are actually not that many passing TD's in SEC play. Dobbs was the only SEC QB to average more than 2 TD's per game in SEC play...but he also threw 9 picks.
So, some QB's threw more TD's, but at the cost of more interceptions.
With our running game, I'd rather Etling's 5/2 TD/INT ratio than someone like Austin Allen (13/10) or Jalen Hurts (13/8).

Football is a team sport isn't it? It won't matter who has the better overall stats at QB. What will indeed matter is who wins the game in tiger stadium the night we play auburn. Let's just say that I like our chances.

My thanks to everyone who replied (with the exception of VERETTCM with his dumb "you're dumb" remark). Excellent points. I am still hopeful to see better stats from Etling before the end of August, even though stats don't always tell the true story.
