And reporters have been writing about for over a decade since I was at LSU. Even during the good years students left early.

As a student from the Late 80's, we truly enjoyed our experiences in Tiger Stadium and never left early. This year I attended a Notre Dame home game and the LSU-Auburn game. In both instances, the student sections remained full till the end. There are too many folks willing to pay for those seats and stay till the end. Just a bad look

For years I've hated the Greek section ever since I attended every home game as a student. Those self entitled kids were never into the game or there to support the team. They treated it like a social event to hook up with girls or get drunk. Take away half of their seats and make the rest of them first come first serve.
This post nails it.
Everytime I sit near the student section it makes me want to slap 90% of them.

Why even post this?
Why not post it? And just because he post it means he is trying to shame them?

That is correct. Its about 50/50 with greek and student organizations.
They have great seats and assigned seats for just a few more dollars than student tickets. It should be very easily for LSU to look at which organizations are leaving and when. I say reduce the amount of student tickets and let the student organization/Greeks get tickets with the general students. Reduce from 14,600 to 11,000 and have the general public buy those tickets at the normal admission price. LSU can make a few more dollars as well.

I get if you want to give the sorority girls some grief, but the fraternities aren't really the problem and the problem spans well into the GDI seats too. Also, the "greek" seats arent all greek. Lots of student orgs mixed in too.
They all suck

The expansion lead to a surplus of unused tickets for most games
Stadium expansion doesn't explain why there's 100K people in the stands during the 1st quarter and half of them leave by the 3rd quarter. If expansion was why the crowd was thinned out, then the crowd would be looking thin at kickoff too.

Does this mean that we can start playing Neck in the 4th quarter? It's not like you can hear the student section, anyway.

Student section is a LOT worse this year. I've defended the frick out of the student and greek section to family/friends bitching about leaving early. When I was there from 07-11 it rarely thinned out until deep in the 4th and for a lot of games it stayed relatively full till the very end.
Last year I saw the student section MUCH more full than the gold seats in the Arky and ATM games.
So when I heard people crying about the student section, I told them they were blind if they thought the student section was emptying as much or as early as virtually every other section.
Then I went to the Mizzou and Southern Miss games this year. Had to eat crow. They are BAD this year.
I sat in the greek seats from 09 through 11 and while you definitely had a decent amount of people leaving in the 3rd/start of the fourth, it wasn't too bad. Greek seats are like 25% full at best after halftime these days.

Because if it's a top 10 opponent and a close game, nobody leaves. Other than that, adios.
Dak played in Tiger Stadium twice.
2014: MS State was not ranked when we played them and lost.
2012: Dak threw 1 pass. MS State was ranked 21 at the time.
So according to Dak Prescott, LSU is one of the most intimidating places he's played at even though it wasn't a "big game" either time he played us there.

Come on man.. I would say the majority of the fans in the stadium treat LSU games like a social event. To some degree that's what it is. But you have to expect college kids going and wanting to get wasted and chase skirts.

Unless the opposing team is Alabama or Ole Miss, LSU’s student section, the heart of Death Valley, is a joke. Are they loud against other teams? Yeah, for a quarter, and then it’s time to go to Fred’s.
Well no shite. All these people bitching about this at TS act like it's something that ONLY happens here.
They're COLLEGE STUDENTS, ffs, just let it go. I was there from '06-10 and it wasn't any different. You play Western Kentucky at 6:30 pm and are handly winning by the 3rd quarter people left. Not just the student section either.
Maybe the expansion makes it appear more empty, but stop with all these stupid fricking bitch threads. Also, stop acting like sooooo many people deserve the tickets more. There were tickets to the south miss game for $5 or free, based on what others posted here. This is so god damn ridiculous and redundant.

Alcohol, and the risk of losing their student tickets, what else motivates 19 year-olds?

Lol at all the dweebs in here blaming the student section's shittiness on roughly 10% of the student body population (Greeks).

Sure it's one thing against a bottom 10 FBS school. Not great, but whatever.
People are clearing out during SEC games now. It's absolutely different than it was back 5-10 years ago.

Really? I seem to get the consensus that during SEC games students are there until the end.
...and...you suck for reminding me college was 5-10 years ago. Lol.
Posted on 10/18/16 at 5:09 pm to JohnnyKilroy
Reducing the student section won't solve the problem. Those seats will still be empty for OOC games and lower SEC opponents. It's not just the students leaving, it's the entire stadium.

Student section for Mizzou was a ghost town less than halfway through the third quarter.
Sure we were killing them, but the main excuse given for so long on this board was that Miles gameplan was so vanilla that it was too boring for people to stay for an entire game.
It was the first non-Les coached game in over a decade, at night, in TS, against and SEC opponent, and we set LSU records for offensive production.
Stadium was 60% full at best by midway through the 3rd.
ETA: Yes it sucks that college was that long ago. I stayed as long as I could (got the GOAT LSU regular season in for my last semester) and then kept the college life going a few more years at UGA Law (Sanford is abysmal compared to TS). Wish I could go back and do everything all over again. Wouldn't change a thing.

I guess where we differ is I don't consider Mizzou a real SEC team. Lol.
