Your bar for talking shite is very low if you think Campbell was talking shite about USC.
Call it what you want but he looked like an idiot promising we were going to do something that we have sucked at. Its not like he said "I think we will be able to run." or "I have confidence our OL to open holes for the RBs."
He said:
"WE ARE GOING TO RUN THE BALL."
and then we proceeded to get stuffed on 3rd and short multiple times that game.

Burrow going over to the Vanderbilt sideline and telling them to their faces he was going to throw five touchdown passes in the game was hilarious. He was wrong though. He threw six.
I think he was saying he was going for 500 yards. Not sure though.

He said they were going to run the ball. He didn't say they were going to run the ball well.

Can somebody translate this to English please?

Honestly I like it in this game
I would like it more if it was done "in" the game. Regardless of whether or not the fans like it, bulletin board smack talk very rarely does anything for the on-field performance. That's why Saban never let his players talk shite in public - or spanked them when they did.
Love him or hate him, I think Saban is right on that account. Save your big mouth for when the helmets are on and you can spit truth directly into the face of your opponent. Prove it on the field, and everyone else will talk smack for you.
(Looking at you, Big Will).

I seem to recall a game where we drank the other team’s water, beat them in their own stadium, and planted a flag on their field en route to an undefeated season and natty.
As I recall, that was all done on the field - during or just before the game. None of that was done by big-mouths in the days leading up to the game.

Go back and look at 2019… almost everyone was talking and backing it up. The backing it up part is the critical part.
That team was once in a generation, and had the ability to back up their smack talk with bitch-slaps once the whistle blew.
And they knew it.
This team is good, but it ain't the 2019 team. I'm glad for all the wins, but most of them have been much too close for me to feel like this team has the stones to talk shite then consistently back it up on the field.
There isn't a team left on our schedule that doesn't have a punchers chance of taking us down, so talking smack is a distraction we don't need. Prove it on the field, throw it in their faces when the helmets are on. If you win the Rant will talk all the smack you ever needed.

it seems that teams that talk smack before a big game usually lose...
not a fan of it...

I'm with you, Chicken. IMO, there's a big difference between expressing confidence in your team vs. letting a ton of shite fall out of your alligator mouth that your jaybird arse then has to back up.
And, before all the other testosterone-poisoned meatheads jump in on this post: It's possible to be polite, respectful of your opponent and express confidence in your own abilities without acting like an egotistical idiot. In fact, the British have refined the polite smack-talk game over the last few centuries into a high art form.
Frankly, good teams don't need to talk shite before a game to get hyped for it.
Just my opinion, though, for what it's worth.

I think it's a lot different when you're an individual play going after another individual player or two. Not "we're gonna run the ball" type smack talking. Swinson is putting this all on him and not bringing anyone else into the conversation.
They definitely talk A LOT more on the field when they aren't throwing punches at each other's junk in the bottom of piles.

True, but Swinson writes so well. Clearly, an educated football player.
I would love to see some of these guys write a 3rd grade essay

Twitter this entire week has been A&M trying to edit pieces of Nuss from the MPA saying shite about the crowd and such.
Hopefully Swinson backs his shite up
