As this thread has become derailed:

Hill Memorial Library at LSU houses some quite impressive books and records.

Book worth millions

Yeah this was meant to be a brag board for LSU!

I've never been in Hill but I remember the building looked very old.

Is it true you guys feed Mike something special if you win a game? I saw him after the ULM game and he was PACING like crazy...someone said he gets fed a whole pig but I wasn't buying it :)

LSU has a small but annoying number of cynical idiots like this posing as fans and demonizing a coach who went 10-2 this year with little more than one running back on offense.

A lot of people don't realize that A&M is one of six federally-designated senior military colleges, like the Citadel or VMI. We just happen to have 45K non-corps students as well, but we commission about half our cadets as officers.

Umm.. I think A&M is more analogous to Virginia Tech, not VMI.

When I went to the Va. Tech/LSU game in Blacksburg in 2002, I got some weird deja vu. It felt like College Station. I recall seeing the corps in the stands and maybe even on the field at some point. Va. Tech is eerily similar to A&M.

I'll bet your life that A&M is that other "larger civilian university"

And it's been all downhill from there. And its a travesty the University refuses to name a building or otherwise commemorate the university's founder and one of the greatest military leaders the nation has ever produced.

I see things differently than do you.

Sherman RESIGNED his position with LSU. Why should LSU honor him in the manner that you propose? Sherman abandoned LSU and made war on the State of Louisiana.

Sherman answered his conscience, just as did hundreds of Southern officers who resigned their commissions in the U.S. Army at the beginning of the war. After the war, even though people in the South vilified him, Sherman remained a supporter and friend of LSU for the remainder of his life.

No, Louisiana seceded, and made war on the United States. Sherman honored his oath and defended our country against "all enemies, foreign AND domestic." I just wish he had killed a few more so you wouldn't have so many unreconstructed apologists running around today.

Thanks for your post & interest in LSU. The 2 schools have much in common; however, one major difference is LSU's ties to the Confederacy.

This.

Prior to the war, most people were more loyal to their STATE, over their country. Sherman's Ohio remained in the Union.

One of my first memories of LSU football was a game I attended in Tiger stadium against the Aggies. I was in awe of both teams fan bases. I was sorry when the series ended. It was football at it's best. For the younger Tiger fans who haven't been to a LSU - A&M match up, you are in for a treat. I was hoping if the SEC expanded that A&M would join the SEC And nice post.

Wrong, they are state supported military schools. Not Federal.

you are both partially right....there are six federally recognised senior military colleges: Norwich, Citadel, VMI, and A&M are four of them....I can't remember the other two without going back to the governing Army Regulation...

I have never seen a school so proud of an ROTC program as Texas A&M.
