....Guys, LSU's alotment was 12,000 tickets.

LSU sold 14,500 as of one week ago (2,500 more than they were required to sell).

Last year, UGA which is much closer to Orlando sold 12,000. Michigan State sold less than that.

Auburn which is much closer to central Florida sold 13,000 tickets for this year's Outback Bowl.

I think the Capital One Bowl is pleased with the LSU ticket sales.

but you do realize LSU normally BLOWS away its alotment of tickets .. right ? also, of the 14K tix you say have been sold .. it looks like a third of those are for sale ...

Yeah - I totally f'ed up this year. I put in my bowl request way back and had a friend from out of town (and not a college football fan) that wanted to get together for New Year's. I told him it depended on where LSU ended up. When we lost to Ole Miss, it looked solidly like Cotton or possibly Chick-Fil-A. I told him that New Year's at my place was on and to make the plane reservations.

Doh!

I sold my tickets on eBay and took a bath ... at least it was to an LSU fan!

I haven't missed a bowl since the last Cotton...

wasn't there an option (through LSU) to pick which bowl games you wanted to attend? i know its been like that in the past so why did all these idiots choose capital one bowl tickets when they didn't want to attend in the first place?

I think people really intended to go, but things (the economy mainly) came up.

I think the way things have unfolded have turned a lot of LSU fans away. People and national media are still talking on Miles's coaching blunder against Ole Miss, offensive play calling and offensive line (thought to be the best ever) has been horrific.

The economy has been bad for a couple years now. Its actually on an upswing now. Places up north were devastated by the economy yet they still attended bowl games. Louisianas economy has been pretty good in comparison to the rest of the country.

...looks like Steven blew your orgiinal horse crap post up putting down LSU fans.

Numbers dont lie...looks like you do!

Geaux Tigers!

See Ya In Orlandeaux!

PS Glad we not in Shreveport with you Texas A@M Faggie fans. I know they have not sold their allotment of tickets. They cant even travel a few hours east to go to a bowl. How pathetic!

Have you seen how many tickets are being unloaded for this game? Yes, LSU sold 14,000 or so tickets but you are kidding yourself if you think that many LSU fans will be in the stadium on Jan 1. It's no secret that the casual LSU fan simply isn't excited enough to make the trip.

Anything more is a rip-off for an exhibition game.

This is beyond pathetically bad. People knew that LSU wasn't going to a BCS bowl at the time they requested tickets. The Capital One Bowl is the best LSU could've hoped for. It's the best of the non-BCS bowls, on New Year's Day, and in a city with lots to do. If LSU doesn't bring at least 20-25K fans, then I wouldn't be surprised if the Capital One folks look elsewhere next time LSU is in the mix. All they care about is revenue and ticket sales. If LSU fans don't seem to care unless the team is BCS bound, then send their asses to the Pappa John Bowl or some shite. LSU's fans used to be the standard against all other college football fans are measured, but not any more.
There is one bowl game that is worth anything, and it's in Pasadena this year (and it isn't the Rose Bowl Game). All these other games are games with absolutely nothing at stake. Face value for the Capital One Bowl is more than twice what it is for a game in Tiger Stadium, and games in Tiger Stadium actually matter--and are usually played on a Saturday night.

People just don't want to pay over $100 for a game that doesn't matter. That's not pathetically bad.

Sadly enough, I truly believe a lot of LSU fans have adopted the "BCS bowl or bust" attitude.
Almost every school has this attitude. If you're not in a BCS bowl, you're in no place special.

Good point, it also doesn't help that there are 1000 bowl games. It's just not that special when 6-6 teams are going bowling IMO.

You get to pick your bowls - but back in October. I don't remember what the deadline is, but I usually enter mine as soon as I get the application.

I go to any bowl that's within 8 hours of Atlanta. I'll also go to any BCS bowl, except for the Fiesta.

So, I chose 2 tickets for the Capital One Bowl among my other selections.

After we lost to Ole Miss, it was "solid" that we would either go to a bowl that I didn't order tickets for (Cotton) or the local one (Chick-Fil-A). I let the New Year's plans get made that included people flying here - ya know, non-refundable plane flights.

... and then Ole Miss laid an egg in the Egg Bowl.

It's not that special when 8-4 teams are going bowling!

I'd feel a lot different if a non-BCS bowl's ticket price was similar to that of a regular game. When you're asking me to pay $100, you're telling me that this is a special game. But, if nothing is at stake, it isn't a special game.

New Orleans Bowl - 30,000
Saint Petersburg Bowl - 29,000
New Mexico Bowl - 24,000

I guess this isn't an indictment on the bowl system yet because this is a good crowd for the schools involved.

And we're seeing that bug creep into BCS games. The Orange Bowl had 20,000 empty seats last year, and I'm ready to see how sparsely-attended the Sugar Bowl will be.

What's the over-under on bowl games that will be played in front of capacity crowds? 3.5? (seriously)

BTW, for those with a family, this is one of the best bowl there is ... no lie. Take the kids to Disney World, Sea World, Univeral Studios, and then to the bowl game. It's a long drive from Louisiana, but it's not horrible.

... and with dumbasses like me practically giving away tickets ...

im sorry we arent as good as Texas fans, oh wait, we outnumbered yall 4-1 in Omaha this summer. I highly doubt yall could bring 20k fans to Seattle. I see you in EVERY thread talking about this and putting LSU fans down. Get a freaking life....LSU has sold a significant number more tickets than Penn State, so why dont you bring your troll arse over there and leave us alone. Or Why dont you visit the other SEC sites and annoy them. I checked last night and LSU is only behind Alabama, Kentucky, and Tennessee in ticket sales for the bowl out of SEC teams. (Tenn and UK are playing 3 hours away from their campus). Seriously, every damn thread on this topic you HAVE to chime in. LSU has sold 15k tickets, but that doesnt count the thousands of tickets people buy that arent directly though LSU....

Believe me the CapOne bowl is thrilled that LSU sold their allotment and then 2500 extra. That's all they care about. We've sold more than Penn State and the Tiger fans will be there and loud as always.

We could be Clemson.....4000 tickets???? I realize it's not the best bowl...but 4000 tickets????
