Right now I don't have any interest in mbb. That's only because until we get a coach that doesn't look like a cardboard cutout, I won't watch. I used to be really into our basketball team, but I won't watch until they get it figured out

LSU will likely never contend for championships in basketball. But they should at the very least be sniffing the tournament most years. Being a bottom-dweller in the SEC is not acceptable.

What does this mean?

I don't really care about basketball anymore. I would be all in if they were good and put out an enjoyable product?

I fear this might be a canary in the coalmine for football for me.

Basketball with one and done seems further along on the wholesale roster changes (aka new team.evwry year). So if I am all in and think oh if this freshmen works on his shot or gets stronger he is going to be really good next year. Might be true but he is going to be on another team. So I just don't feel very vested in the team. They will be all new next year.

I am a huge fan of baseball and football above bball. however, my absolute favorite sporting event is the ncaa basketball tourney. so, of course...i damn sure pull for the tigers to get in it.

Men's basketball is fun when it is rolling. I was there in the late 80's and Wednesday's in the Assembly Center were an event. Also had marquee superdome games that were amazing. I don't live in BR, but would make games from time to time in the other eras when they were good and the Will Wade days had began to approach the glory days. Would love to see that again.

By this statement, you admit you'd be watching basketball if they were good?

I grew up loving mens basketball. A rockin PMAC was every bit as much fun as TS at night. LSU needs to fix its sinking ship and get back to a contender again in mens basketball.

Now as far as any professional sport, I don't watch any of them anymore, but the NBA is terrible right now.

Put your question in the thread title - at least enough of it to get the point across.

This is typical now days. Many men realize this now and are beginning to watch womens BB. They say its the way BB was originally supposed to be played.
I know most dont want to hear this.

I dont particularly care for BB either, but like Will Wade and Kim Mulkey, it is/was fun to watch.

You must not have witnessed LSU basketball in the 80's under Dale Brown. While some may have questioned game day coaching decisions, few if any questioned his brilliance as a promoter, a recruiter, a motivator, and as an ambassador for LSU basketball.

There was an excitement surrounding LSU at that time, often reflected by a packed P-MAC and nationally televised matchups. While we were left wanting for a national championship, we as fans were along for the ride, and it was a fun one.

Restoring LSU basketball just takes the right person to guide the program, and a commitment by the Athletic Department.

No. I've never been into basketball in any form, men or women's, college or NBA, etc.

Thank everyone for their honest opinions. Overall, it sounds like most people feel the same way I do about it. I grew up in an era in the 80s and 90s when basketball was completely different. It wasn’t about prima donnas and me me me. it was actually about a team sport and fundamentals. The team was actually passing the ball 4 to 5 times before a shot was taken and not trying to take three-point shots every time down the court. It wasn’t sissy like. like it is now and it was actually played rough. I could care less if they canceled the whole program of basketball. I would rather watch girls volleyball at this point. Lol.

I love LSU basketball when they are winning, but I'm also a fair weather fan. Like an old friend used to tell me, "that's what they make knee pads for, to jump off of the band wagon". Saints and Pells to a lesser extent.

I enjoy most sports at LSU, have been going for years. But if I’m in another state, I’ll make many sporting events. Much of the same with music. I enjoy getting out.
If LSU heads back to Omaha, I’m planing to make the trip. The trip in 2023 was very entertaining! I spent 12 days there.
