Basketball is awesome when your team is good. Just haven’t had a consistent winner in a long time.

As a kid in the 80s, I cared more about LSU basketball than football. My hero was Pistol Pete, not Billy Cannon. I really didn't get interested in LSU football until high school.

Dude, you are such and incredible pussy! “A woke sport”… what exactly is a “woke sport” you flaming douche bag?!!

LSU Basketball has been an incredible part of this school’s attraction for years. How about you leave your chicken shite politics at the door!

You pricks ruin everything these days! Go back to what you do best, hustling blowjobs for a living!

GEAUX TIGERS!!!

Woke has become a very lazy and misused way to describe a great many things that it doesn't fit - saying the sport itself is woke is a very overarching generalization that just does not fit. If you don't like basketball don't watch it or start threads about it. No one is cramming it down your throat - change the channel. It's on because people watch and go.

I'm from a basketball family - my Dad played it and loved it and I played it and loved it and still do. I want LSU basketball to be great but I'd settle for them at least trying to be great.

The first part of your question was fine, but this part is so dumb. How is college basketball a woke sport? It was a popular sport before being "woke" was a thing. And if you're comparing it to the NBA, then do you compare college football to the NFL with their woke field messages, black national anthem, etc.? Not sure how college basketball is crammed down anyone's throats either. It's popular and has been for a long time. March Madness ratings last year were through the roof.

Obviously, not everyone likes the same sports and there is nothing wrong with that, but guys like Pete Maravich, Chris Jackson and Shaq created exciting memories for people across the nation (LSU fans and general basketball fans) and helped solidify the LSU brand. Also, love him or hate, but when Dale Brown had LSU rolling, the PMAC had one of the most exciting atmosphere in all of sports (not to mention the record-breaking crowds LSU got for the big matchups LSU had in the Super Dome against Georgetown, etc.).

Some of you see everything thru your kool-aid glasses. Sports don't become politically left or right. Some players express their opinions. If you don't agree, then you throw stupid labels on them. Sports is only political if you make it political to you. All sports are games of competition. Quit making it something it is not.

I love basketball. Football is king, but basketball is probably 2nd for most fans. I love LSU baseball so much that I have it on same level as basketball. It has been hard to get excited for basketball under McMahon.

I don't think I could disagree more. Making the case that we have only seen players on an individual basis making political statements and sports leagues have not touched politics is just flatly untrue.

I suppose you could make an argument that sports in their purest form aren't political but to pretend that sports leagues like the NFL and NBA haven't taken political stances is simply inaccurate.

As for college basketball, I haven't checked out for political reasons. I've checked out because LSU hasn't been any good. It's hard to get excited when you're playing for nothing and your team is terrible.

Growing up in the 80s football was trash after Archer’s first year. In high school in the 90s we got Jackson, Shaquille, Singleton, Robert’s and Daddy Dale won a hell of lot more than he lost, while the gridiron has people rearranging the Crazy about Curley bumper stickers to Curley about Crazy.

TL;DR: Growing up Gen X had basketball to cheer for, football was a source of pain

My opinion of basketball is absolutely jaded in a negative way because of our program. But basketball to me requires the least strategy/scheming/planning of all the sports and is why I don’t really enjoy it.This is overly simplistic….Shoot it, sometimes it goes in, sometimes it doesn’t.

If LSU is playing, of course I want to win and be good, but I’m just not a basketball fan. The sport at all levels just doesn’t have much appeal to me.

All that said, if LSU had a winning program, I’d be watching and rooting for the Tigers. But if we stink, it’s really really easy to not a give a F about the program. I’ve been through periods of stink in our other programs and am never as apathetic towards those programs when we’re not good.

There’s a lot of strategy but i don’t blame you for this take after watching this McTeam for the last 4 years.

Basketball CAN be a lot of fun when it's done right. The momentum swings, the crowd, one team going on a run and the other team needing a TO to stop the bleeding, offenses running effeciently where it almost looks like a coordinated dance. All of those are fun aspects of the game. You could make an argument that the game has gotten incredibly stale though in the way lots of teams play it and I think that's more of an issue of how the modern game is played rather than the game itself being flawed.

I like CBB when LSU is at least decent. I honestly probably prefer it to baseball except during the CWS. It sucks to suck.

Can we agree that the NIL money needs to be focused to the football and baseball teams mainly?

Of the biggest sports in America, my interest in men’s basketball ranks just above hockey, but only because we don’t have a college or nhl team nearby. Even when LSU is good at men’s basketball (I have zero interest in watching women’s basketball even when LSU is elite), I only go to a handful of games each year, and I don’t really watch road games on tv unless it’s the post-season (I’ll occasionally watch pels games on local tv when they’re around.500 or better).

I like it when LSU basketball is good because it gives me a sport to pay attention to and enjoy between Thanksgiving when the football regular season ends and Valentines Day when baseball starts. March Madness is really fun when we’re a part of it.

This LSU basketball team is garbage and unwatchable.
LSU football was garbage and unwatchable since October.
The Pels are garbage and unwatchable.
The Zydeco are garbage and unwatchable.

It’s been a cold, miserable winter to be a sports fan in Louisiana.
