Carl, did you record the audio, take notes as they spoke, or just listen and tried to remember everything?

Great piece, Carl. Finally an in-depth, analytical, well-written, honest article about LSU. I had given up ever expecting to ever read a piece like this ever again, not since Sam King retired. Keep it up!!!!

Lundquist, who said he didn't see LSU's game against Washington, said his lingering memory of the Tigers from 2008 is of the struggles at quarterback. He agreed with Danielson about LSU's talent at the skill positions and said he thinks the quarterback play will be much better than last year.
Does this guy votes for the polls?

And if he adds a little OT smackdown to his game, then he will be one of us.
Carl, miss reading you on paper, glad you are here.

No. Center. Hidden ball trick.

I took notes and recorded the audio. The full teleconference lasted about 56 minutes. The time we spent on LSU was about 12-15 minutes.

Wow, there will be no pressure/expectations on the kid, huh.
I hope he can walk on water cause the deep end of the pool at LSU has no bottom.

Good insight Carl. I have never liked Danielson and the way he misinterpreted Brando thoughts about RS speaks volumes of his analyst capabilities. And the poster who said this will fire LSU fans up. A line from "Blazing Saddles". " Badges, we don't need no stinking badges".

Good stuff, as usual.
Thanks Carl.

Thanks Carl.

chicken, i watched the first half last night and it wasn't nearly as bad as people are making it out to be.
there were at least two instances where wash got an unbelievable spot to keep the drive alive. i watched it again in slow mo on the dvr and the refs were at least a yard off.
also, lsu was driving easily when chuck fumbled near the goal line.
the defense did not at all look like they were "lost" like last season where opponents were not within 10 yards of a tiger defender.
as has been stated several times, the two biggest problems on defense in the first half were poor tackling and no pressure from the d line. that's just a lack of individual effort. obviously, that's where washington's biggest plays came from.
i saw no evidence of 3rd and chavis as a systemic problem in the first half.

I agree bfniii. Last year, there were wr's running WIDE open in the secondary. Last Sat.(outside the screen pass) we actually had the receivers covered pretty well. Locker made some nice throws and the WR's made a few really good catches. Especially the long catch at the end of the 1st half against Jai.
Danielson brought up a great point about the DL. While there is some talent, it doesn't strike me that this DL will be special. Woods was solid and Nevis made a few plays. But, I just didn't see that difference maker.

Excellent reporting. Thanks.
Wouldn't Danielson's prediction of an LSU/Florida NC matchup mean they have to play three times in one season?

No. He is saying that Bama would beat LSU regular season and play UF in the SEC title game. A 1-loss LSU would play UF in NC game.
It would never happen, and he was really just being silly and trying to get attention.
Posted on 9/11/09 at 2:23 pm to Carl Dubois
Danielson presdicted LSU/Florida NC? How is that possible - unless we have handed UF their only loss and Bama beats us and then loses to UF in SEC championship. I don;t think Gary D looked at it that closely.
