Last year the Arkansas and Georgia games were going just like this year's Auburn game, until Tyran Mathieu turned the momentum of the first two around, and they turned into routs. Y'all, he won the Bednarik Award; they don't give that thing away.

Oregon was about to step on our throats and potentially go up two scores before his strip/td on the punt. People always overlook that as if we were just in total control of that game

Credibility lost? ODB has shown, at the very least, that he is as competent a returner as was TM. His avg is slightly lower now and has more return yards and more TD's than did TM at this point last season. He is a playmaker. He is a ballhawk. But position-wise we've got as good in this defense.
You people are overstating that we miss him so much. Do I miss how exciting a player he was? Yes. Did I enjoy a +20 turnover ratio? Yes. The fact is that is a stat that is nearly impossible to replicate. ESPECIALLY since TM would have been even more of a "true" corner this year rather than a Nickel/dime back because we lacked experience at corner before this season.

I just miss tm7 threads. It's been like a week since we had one. Seems like lack of pass block took the cover. Glad we are back on track.

To minimize TM7's impact is crazy....Chief could be so creative with such an aggressive ball hawk..the defense now plays conservative in the secondary, minimizing turnover opportunities that TM7 took advantage of more than anyone in our teams history. Without him offenses will sustain drives longer because we won't take the same gambles as we did the last two seasons....yeah, we don't miss him much...

Name the tangible stat that proves otherwise. He had 2 long returns for TDs. It so happened that they were at big points in games. But that is coincidence at best.
Stat wise, as well as looking at how they handle punts, ODB is just as good at this point in the season as TM was last.
So kindly frick off.

Again. He'd be a "cover corner" this year. He wouldn't have nearly as many opportunities to make those big plays in the Nickel/dime.
Not minimizing the impact, just saying that this defense is great. We have strong, technically sound athletic players at every position. And in the return game, we've got a guy who is just as good. Thus, to cry and say we miss him so much is reaching.

You are the only one here who thinks ODB Jr. is just as good as Mathieu. That should tell you something. Up to this point, ODB has not proven himself to be the playmaker Tyrann was. Keep telling yourself that and maybe you will really believe it. Mr. Magoo himself could see that we miss TM this year.

Losing Chris Faulk hurts this team more than losing #7.

True. I hope JD can get his act together or it may be a long season just due to Faulk's injury.

He had 27 returns for TDs? Man. It's a wonder he didn't win the heisman
I'm sorry when did u ask for returns for TDs?

I agree 100%. I hope he returns to the team next year and is successful.

Chipping RB's and tight ends helping out is the only way in my opinion. JD has speed issues, but he will do his best. Fans need to realize he is out of position.

You're right. The rant, and particularly this thread, is packed with people who ooze football wisdom.
ODB has returned 2 for TDs ALREADY (one called back). You're right. TM is clearly better at PR and ODB sucks.

I didn't think he was all that initially as a cb, but i was wrong, we needed that kid. He is a hell of a player.
His play elevates the whole defense. It's not just his contribution as a CB, it's the whole playmaker persona. Special teams as well.

He is better and I never said ODB sucks. He just isn't the returner that TM is. I don't think it is even a debate.

What makes you think that? Touchdowns? Yardage?
