Brandon Lafell, playing his formative years with JJ and Lee(matt flynn as a Soph), had 25 career TD catches at LSU. Dude is so underrated.

Him and Byrd were a great tandem.

Ken Cavanaugh, Andy Hamilton, Eric Martin, Wendell Davis and Eddie Kennison are my 20th century guys.

Reed, Clayton, Bowe, OBJ and Landry are my 21st century guys.

Martin, Davis, Reed, OBJ and Landry are my top five overall.

Reed was phenomenal and had the stats, but OBJ was the better talent.

disagree here... Reed was a monster and they just didn't use him on returns.........his ability to get open was unreal.........I think Landry and OBJ were pretty even while here......

I don't think the question was who had the most yards.

Fair enough. But if you look at the other stats, Beckham is 9th in career catches; His best season in terms of catches doesn't crack the top 10 best seasons in LSU history; He's not in the top 10 in single season or career TD catches. The amount of yards he gained (especially in 2013) is his best stat.

Lafell does not belong in the top 5 the guy had butter fingers for a good stretch of his career.

Maybe. But remember that Beckham really struggled with drops in the 2012 season as well.

Beckham and Landry both made some outstanding plays. They both had good years in 2013. They each (especially Landry) made some of the best catches we've every seen at LSU. They both look well on their way to having excellent NFL careers. But looking at their on-field production strictly limited to their time at LSU, a significant argument could be made that they aren't in the top 5 all time of LSU WRs.

idk if I could ever say Jarvis Landry was better than OBJ. But if it's 4th down and I have to count on 1 guy to get me a first down. I'm definitely looking for Jarvis.

I think you can make a completely different list if you went on stats alone. LaFell was here for 4 years, and even though he had Lee for a good bit of that, despite his turnover problems, Lee could put it in the end zone. Landry had two full seasons of a decent QB, that first one with a Mett that was still trying to figure it out. Not an argument against LaFell, but I think OBJ and Landry showed that final season how immensely talented they were.

Jarvis Landry was a much better reciever at LSU than ODB. Not even close really. Much better hands, more consistent and always made the big catch. ODB had a bad case of the drops and his big yardage games came against teams like towson. Pro career is a different story.

So you're just ignoring 2013?

Landry was just as good A WR as OBJ... Like I have said I think they were pretty even during their careers at LSU.

Jarvis was a better receiver at Lsu than Odell. A lot of people make this mistake bc of how Odell was taken before him in the draft and his success in the NFL.

Words fail me in describing his play as a college WR. A converted RB who couldn't have been a surprise after his first few games and I've literally never seen anyone get so open, so consistently. I don't know if he had some move that was just beyond the processing of the DB or mind control, telekinesis, but there were several times in that Bama game (where he and Rohan beat them by themselves), where he was so open that even with the camera panned back some, there was no Bama defender even in frame - as if they had filters on and couldn't see Josh Reed until he caught the ball.

This is a great description.

OBJ's year last year was great and I hope he develops into one of the best of all time. But as a college receiver, Reed was just unstoppable, clearly the greatest of all time.

No 2 is more difficult.

OBJ's overall numbers maybe better than Landry's because he started as a freshman and did well in that 2011.

I have to say that Landry's catch against Arkansas--the last completion of Zac Mettenberger's career is the greatest catch in LSU history--it may be the greatest catch in football. When you see it on replay, you think interception, is he gonna try to bat it down that would be a great football play, no way he could possibly...OMG!
He caught it!!!

1193 15.5 10 Landry

1152 19.5 8 Beckham 2013

pretty similar stats until you see who the teams they got these stats against. 2/3 of his highest games came against furman and Alabama Birmingham

. He had some lingering injuries that took away from his explosiveness too

I don't think there is one season he didn't get hurt. Similar to addai IMO. Both were very talented, but injuries limited both being up there on all time lists.

I'm saying it's close, but it's not like Landry is miles ahead of OBJ. Beckham showed he could make any catch in 2013. Overcame the drops.
