Is this really what the students at LSU think of TGBFTL now?

Yes I am a grand pa. Lets get that out of the way first of all. I graduated from LSU in May of 1974. I was a member of Tiger Band so I must also admit I tend to favor "band" music over "piped".
I realize times change and I also realize in today's "facebook society" no one tends to enjoy such tradition as in the past. I would suggest that we should consider a mixture of both at TS games and make the two work in harmony (pardon the pun) with each other.
Let me tell a true story. I recently went to a football game at Floyd Casey Stadium in Waco Texas. The Bayor Bears were hosting The Fighting Texas Aggies. My olderst daughter (a TCU grad) and her husband (a A&M grad) provided me a ticket to the game. Our seats were directly behind the Aggie Band. The Tuba players were in the row directly in front of us. Our seats were on about the 20 yard line about mid way up in the stadium. To our left was a large JumboTron speakers and a scoreboard. Before long the speakers "fired up" at distortion levels playing Kanye West, Justin Bieber and other bits of music. It seemed as if every time the Aggie Band would begin to play, the piped in music would commence. Frankly that is pretty petty. I am certianly not an Aggie Fan or a Bear fan but that alone mad me hope that the visiting team would beat down the home team. They did actually.
So I suggest we accept piped in music but that we be responsible with it

I could care less now. When i was in the band last year I enjoyed 75% of the piped in music. The music selection could be better but so could tiger band's.
The major issue is that the directors of the band and the DJ are trying to please everyone in the stadium and play alittle of everything. This is prolly how Justin beiber got piped in and how the band played poker face.
There is a good mix between piped music and tiger band. I don't see a problem with it. It gives 325 people a break from their jobs and let's them enjoy the atmosphere too as well as bring something "new" to th table.
Oh and FWIW: Callin baton rouge and LA SAT night are pregame traditions and should never be changed.

Really, you need piped in music to get fired up? Go to a NBA game if that is the kind of entertainment you want. College football does not need kind of sh#* to get fans excited about the greatest sport in America. Tiger football is all about playing hard as hell for 60 minutes & The Golden Band from Tigerland.

That's terrible. Best marching band in the country and it gets appreciation like this.

Exactly. It's the song choices that need to get better, not whether we need piped in music or not. I think the system we have now is great, where the band has priority, and then the piped in music fills in the rest. We don't need Justin Beiber or the four-year old rap songs they keep playing, and whoever's idea it was to have the band play anything Lady Gaga needs to off themselves.
I have a few songs I wish we would play, but you can't please everybody. Either way, I think almost everybody can agree that just need to stay away from certain artists and genres that get played over and over again on 102.5 FM.

The atmosphere for the LSU/Auburn game in Auburn last year was better than the atmosphere at any LSU game in the last 2 years
Well considering that the last two years were the most blah in the last decade that's not saying a whole bunch.
And if not for a whole game the 4th qtr of Bama was better than anything AU has ever mustered. And this had zero to do with piped-in music.

I agree with this, but no one is going to agree on the music. Most people feel "live" music is better than recorded any day. A few songs wouldn't be bad if they were decent, and became part of the tradition. If they start playing random techno, there should be a riot in Tiger Stadium.
