He hasn't had the chance to show that because spread concepts in this offense are nonexistent

And because he has to leap or dive to catch the ball which result in him hitting the ground most of the time. Hard to run after the catch.

I do think he got demoted for Diarse though, who did make some great catches in that game.

If true, that is still mind boggling. Diarse was terribly underused all year. Quinn was slighty underused and grossly misued.

Its actually TigerAlum93 ...

Back to Quinn, sucks he wasn't ready for the stage in the Bama game. It could have been a coming out party for him.

That was Harris that almost got him killed. Makes sense that you would blame Jennings.

While Quinn has loads of potential, he still should have caught several of those dropped balls. Beckham and Landry bailed Mett out plenty of times.

I would love to know the definition of a "dropped ball" by this group of football experts on the Rant, as I can count three for the season that I would categorize as dropped. I love how loosely this term is used as if a bunch of balls got "dropped". Go back and watch the film if you are unsure.

If he had 30 targets, he expects 30 catches, we all know (or atleast I think we do) that that is not how it works though.

Several things lead to incomplete passes and I will end it right there.

I have in no way given up on him, as he was only a freshman, but after the drops in the Bama game, which were hurtful to the cause, and after seeing how much better Diarse is at this stage of the development path, I'd put him in only in 4 and 5 receiver sets, as Dupre, Dural and Diarse are 3 grown men who have all shown more productivity thus far.

Go and watch the Bama game and see all the passes that were thrown to Quinn during that game, and you will see the video version of the definition. I am not piling on, as I love the kid and think he will turn into a special player, but he defined drop ball in that game, and it hurt our drives tangibly, thus it hurt our season tangibly.

Fast forward to 6:16 for this guys characterization of the "drops". In fact, this guys analysis for the whole game was really good.

Knowing Trey, he'll be working his tail off this offseason. He blames himself for the Bama game and will do everything to ensure he never performs like that again. Even since pee wee football, I've never seen him drop two passes back to back like that. Add in the fact that he didn't really get a chance to redeem himself and it's really eating at him inside. Just the kind of guy he is. If we use him correctly by getting him in space, allowing him to run after the catch, and the occasional double move downfield, we will see what he's capable of. The defensive backs say he's the hardest receiver on the team to cover since Odell for a reason

So you know the kid and have blinders on. Sorry if those of us with eyes don't take your opinion seriously.

Look I hope I am wrong but unless he makes vast improvements I just don't see him being of use when we have other guys coming in. Be honest if the kid wasn't white nobody would be pumping him this hard for doing nothing.

The last two true frosh WR's who were good enough to come in and play at LSU immediately are kind of turning into nfl superstars....

Every starting receiver at LSU in the last 5-7 years or something played in the league.

C'mon man if the qb could get the ball to the receivers and have rhythm we would be better off.

I do know him, and am not really worried about your opinion or others on this board. No blinders, just facts.

perhaps, but holding the very top spot among HS receivers in the history of HS football - which probably includes hundreds of thousands of players, if not millions - has something to do with the expectations level for the kid as well.

Quinn has loads of potential.

But, at this point, to say that all of the issues he's had were due to the offense, or QB, simply isn't true.

He's going to continue to get better...and to be honest he needs to.

I can't see why anyone from the Quinn camp who should be complaining. Diarse outplayed him at times this year, yet Quinn got the large majority of snaps. Obviously, the coaching staff sees the potential in Quinn and are investing in him by giving him the playing time.

But, he's not the best WR we have after the catch. In fact, I think he's much better with the ball in the air than he is with it in his hands. And, even though he's not big, I think he's better on the outside than he is on the inside (lots of people are going to disagree with me on that one).
