tyrann being no.2 could mean the rest of our corners suck real bad. how can a freshman be no. 2 without ever practicing in full pads. if tyrann is really no. then I question whether claiborne is no.1 because of his talent or lack of talent by his competition.

Mathieu will be a stud cover corner, I honestly expected him to pass up a few older guys quickly.

Tyrann Mathieu is #2?
bullshite!! Then what the Hell is Rueben Randle?
I swear some of the posters on here don't know a damn thing!!

Exactly what I was thinking. They missed the whole point of the thread.

Well he was rated the #1 cover corner by Rivals, which is pretty good at their evals. He's probably the most naturally talented B/U, and you have to feel that the coaches want him behind(and learning from) Patrick Peterson, much like Mo last year.

Tyrann mathieu is sick wit it!. The kid will get play time IMO
Posted on 8/8/10 at 12:52 pm to CamdenTiger
then he hasn't earned it at LSU the coaches just gave it to him

He's #2 to Peterson, meaning he's working with the #2 secondary.
He hasn't supplanted Mo as the second starting CB.

you are such a whiney piece of shite. where do you get off saying it was just given to him? do you watch practices?
the kid has talent and we've been lucky to have CBs lately who are making early impacts.

Im glad that mathieu is making an early impact and clearly he has been as good or better than advertised BUT
it is kind of disheartening that the other corners that have been around for a year or two do not have a better grasp than a player who has only had 4 days of official practice

Did anyone watch Bama with Peterson out? We need kids out there that can cover, if he can cover IMO that trumps run support.
It is a guarantee that anytime 7 leaves the field they are going right at that side. From all accounts Ive read or heard, he is a legit coverage guy.
Lets hope he can play the ball in the air, to avoid the patented Jai Eugene tackle/pass interference call.

Could be a motivational ploy (for the reserves).
Either that or Mathieu is just coming along rather quickly. He is vastly talented.
Why does everyone see the the glass half empty?

I am not saying that he is not a top prospect. I am just saying how can a kid be no.2 of depth chart before he ever puts on any pads and hits and tackles.
also, this almost has to mean our other corners are not good alternatives.

People on the rant get upset and repeat the myth that les doesn't play freshman. So now we have a corner that looks like he will get significant playing time this year and people are complaining that the older players are getting beat out. The coaches can't win with people on here.

This was expected. Everyone was saying he'd be the Nickel Back this year. Good job Mathieu.

by the way tigerbait says do not bring this info to any other board.
