I think the sign is very funny. I still laugh every time I see it. And I don't think it's classless or disrespectful.

I'm not sure it was ever really "up." The two guys just walked from one end of the grandstand to the other, mostly to show the sign to their fellow LSU fans.
I loved it. Not because it was the funniest joke in the world, but because it showed defiance.
I have never shouted at a coach in my life as hard as I shouted at Gillespie in Game 3. I hate that guy.

When Coach P M came to LSU he asked a group of us for any recruiting suggestions ! I told him to get a copy of the 1998 Omaha Herald interview w/Coach. Gilespie about USC facing the Tigers in Omaha in 1997! It was a glowing report about not only how great the team , coach and fans were but that he had never seen baseball fan support that far from home like LSU's fans ! He added that with the PAC 10 ties to the midwest along with an otherwise neutral crowd usually rooting for the under dog ( in 97 USC was the underdog ) , it was to LSU's credit that they had converted Omaha to support LSU almost entirely. He then said in a most complimentary way that " LSU had turned Rosenblatt into Alex Box ! "
What he said last year was a reference back to a few bad incidents that happened when USC came here in the early 90's. He screwed up by not going off the record w a local reporter & not thinking it would be published in BR .
The big picture is that this is a Coach that has said so many more positive things about LSU fans than negative and that his words have been used by LSU for recruiting.
I talked to Coach P M this past fall & he remembered me refering him to the Coach G interview and squaring that with the hell he & UCI took from the Tiger fan base. Oh the irony ! Coach P M agreed.Said he felt bad for him.
If Coach G had thought about it he could have used that interview from 10 years before , to restore his credibility w/the Tiger Fans.
Anyway you can hate who you want to hate , but I think you can find a lot of Coaches that are bigger enemies of the LSU baseball program than
Coach G.

Maybe so, but if he would have left the dugout to artificially slow down the tempo of the game one more time, I was going to freaking lose it.

Hey you can't blame him . When you're up against the born-again Tigers , in the real Alex Box and facing the full fury of the Tiger fans ........
you do what you gotta do !

you do what you gotta do !

i disagree. his quote was what was classless. the banner had everything to do with his quote and nothing to do with the actual civil war.

People not knowing why the "2 out of 3" got brought up jumped to the concluson that we are all racists.

Y'all have chain link fences involved at football games. Sorry, but LSU fans and Nebraska fans have "different reputations" around the country let's say. It has little to do with the weather and more to do with obnoxious, lude behavior. Present company excluded of course.

He is referring to the fence that surrounds the field at Tiger Stadium.

Understood. But what was the underlying meaning to his comment?
