Don't know what O knew or didn't know but what will be attacked is the culture that may have been allowed to fester at LSU to have so many alleged 'incidents' occur.
Whether that falls on Miles or Orgeron, I dunno, but the culture and institutional control part is what they may target.

can't say with any certainty he did...maybe he told him and that he ran it through the proper channels. Would O need to follow up to see if he did?
Don’t think it will matter to NCAA. They will lump it all under lack of control.

I have no idea who is safe. But if the communications in the article are true. Alleva and Ausberry are 100% screwed with Lewis and Segar next in line.
As for O, who knows.

O's knowledge may be irrelevant to what is going to happen to LSU at this point. With the AD involved in setting up what the NCAA sees as a department fixed and Ausberry deciding to believe a guy who just admitted he hit his girlfriend the NCAA will bare teeth. The NCAA is probably wondering why AUsberry is not on suspension.
Which is why I think O may slide on the charges being levied.

We can also be honest here and say that if the only heads to roll are Ausberry, a black man, Segar, a woman, and Lewis, a black woman...that won’t be enough for certain journalists.
Alleva is jobless so who cares.

He may be safe and still put in the position of Captain Edward Smith,
LSU may have to get over what historically has been xenophobia with "outsiders" and do what Husch Blackwell recommends no matter how Draconian. They are the gold standard in Title IX compliance and the NCAA will be watching to see what LSU does.

to do that they would need some pretty good evidence that was the case

but O shirking responsibility for overseeing people directly underneath him put the athletic department and football program in a much more precarious position.
But those people were following directives from the Athletic Director, who is above the head football coach. Even LSU policies say to go directly to the Title IX coordinator which could still mean it doesn’t go through the football coach. Everything that has come out about this points to an administration issue above the head football coach and every time O found out about any allegations he either suspended or dismissed the player in question.

If a phantom department at UNC is outside of the purview of the NCAA, Title IX infractions are outside the purview of the NCAA.

Don’t click on that shite
I certainly would like to know if this program and it's admins protected it's football players target rather than do the right things by the letter.
We can't just sweep this one under the rug.

I’m not just talking about the Title IX meeting.
The investigation wasn’t filed until over a year after the first complaint, the interview was months after that and Davis wasn’t expelled until almost a year later after he was actually convicted.
Which is my entire point. Anyone who knew about the allegations prior to the investigation without notifying the Title IX coordinator violated university policy and should be punished severely.
Once the Title IX investigation is underway, though, it’s outside of the athletic department’s control. Or at least it should be. It’s one thing to place the burden of reporting on the coaches. But the burden of investigation and disciplinary action falls squarely on the Title IX office. That’s the entire point of an independent office - to remove the conflict of interest from the equation.
Davis was suspended during offseason workouts. I have no idea how he wound up participating in the first day of fall practice - this is a question that really needs to be answered IMO. But I can’t imagine that his suspension was lifted without the Title IX office’s approval. If you’re looking at the football coaches to explain why he wasn’t expelled for a year, you’re looking in the wrong place.
quote:
Other players said Mickey was checking in with Davis on a weekly basis to be sure they were staying away from each other, obviously unsuccessfully as the contact and abuse continued.
You are correct, and I had forgotten about this.

Seriously? Because it sure seems like you’re doing everything you can to extrapolate blame to Orgeron and label him as “screwed.”
Maybe he was complicit. But there’s not even a direct accusation, much less any evidence, in these articles stating that he knew about the allegations and failed to report them.
The situation is disgusting, and the root causes need to be addressed. Those responsible for and/or complicit in the coverups need to be fired. But that doesn’t mean fire everyone indiscriminately.

Makes no sense .. After what happened at Duke, you would think a person like that wouldn’t be able get a job again .

It’s pretty disgusting seeing people wishcasting that O was involved simply because they have an issue with job as head coach and want him fired. You people need help.
