re: We can’t keep Sloan as OC…

If so Kelly will have replaced at least one coordinator every year. Doesn't show good judgement on his part. Not to mention the changes that were made after 2019. Where's the stability. Shows poor judgment because these people aren't being hired away.

Yeah, it's criminal the way Sloan/Kelly ruined Jayden Daniels.
Sloan is a QB coach, and what seems to be a good one, but is also an awful OC and play caller. There is a reason he wasn't highly sought after as an OC outside of his time in Tech. He is simply not good enough there to be in that position at a top tier program.
The problem is when you capitulate to lifetime position coaches with undeserved promotions just to keep them and a recruit, you set your program back. That is why people are saying he needs to be demoted back to QB coach.
At La Tech as OC, his offenses:
2020
Less than 300 yards/game and 11th worst in FBS.
Less than 100 yards rushing/game for 9th worst in FBS
They improved in total yards/game in 2021, but were still bad at rushing.
He's simply not a good play caller but is a good QB coach. That's it.
Same with Hankton being a good WR coach, but not a good playcaller.

Nobody blames Sloan for interceptions or dropped passes.
He is blamed for poor play selection, and he deserves that criticism.

Sloan doesn’t know the words tempo or rhythm exist

Yeah that’s fine. See Lincoln Riley. Get amazing QB’s but still suck arse

I am so fricking sick of this excuse. Put the idiot back as QB coach, you cannot let him destroy the momentum by gifting him a position he cannot perform at.
If he doesn't like it, then frick him. We may lose Underwood anyway, so what is the point?

Having the right staff in the right position is way more valuable than any 1 recruit.

You can be as sick of it as your little snowflake heart desires. It’s common knowledge that the relationship is with Sloan.

Double edged sword. If the offense is predictable enough that we lose a few more games and Underwood says he doesn't want to do that, you then have a bad oc and no BU.
Underwood would be a December signee. If he decommits then and signs elsewhere then we just dump Sloan then.

He is not perfect, but the old making chicken salad aphorism springs to mind.
Why can the line not run block and why does Nussmeier throw so many bad balls? The two are likely related to some degree, but Nuss should be able to control his impulses better. He makes a lot of bad decisions which are killing the offense.

Then Sloan can go back to being a QB coach.

I think Sloan is a big problem. We aren't very creative or imaginative on offense but he isn't the only problem. Good QBs mask so many deficiencies on offense.....how many play calls do you think would've gone poorly the last 2 years if it hadn't been for JD getting us out of trouble with his scrambling ability??
Nuss has had opportunities to take what is given to him and he just hasn't a lot of times and it is frustrating. He looks antsy out there and teams are game-planning for it.

Little to no creativity.
His intuition is average at best.
Seems like a good QB coach, but below average OC.

This talking point needs to go. One recruit is not a program. Garrett could come back and Bryce decommits or leaves after next year. There's no guarantees in modern CFB.
If you hire an elite OC, like Kelly has failed to do twice, the recruits will come.

Sloan has to go. or demotion

Let him coach QBs.

Sloan didn’t throw an interception in the end zone. (Again)
Sloan is supposedly the QB Coach guru, yet he can't seem to get Nuss out of his own head for 3 straight weeks now.
That is on Sloan.
quote:
Sloan didn’t over throw a 6’ 7” receiver in the back of the end zone.
Was a stupid and low percentage call when they could have kept momentum going on the ground. Instead it wasted another play on first down, which he does often with his refusal to run the ball. Sloan is garbage at play calling. It is okay to admit it.
He is either a QB guru or he is not. If he is so critical because of his QB coaching, then a 4th year junior under his tutelage for 3 years should not be making these mistakes.
Reality is that Sloan is riding on Jayden Daniels coattails, and I hope people are realizing that now. JD was the reason and Sloan had way less to do with it than any of you want to accept.

People are also selling Denbrock short simply for their unjustified love for Sloan.
Denbrock coached the offense for Cincinnati in 2021 under a defensive head coach in Fickel. That means it was his entire control of the offense, and no only did they make the CFP, but his playcalling made Desmond Ridder a 1st round pick with how well that offense ran.
But he had nothing to do with LSU's success those past two years, it was all Sloan. Ignore what Denbrock is doing at ND now.
