Tiger Nic, 7 months under JJ is not tutelage. His Background in coaching comes from one of the best High school coaches in Louisiana History Billy Fitzgerald, HE has coached on the professional level. He was never giving a chance to coach at LSU under JJ. He will be a head coach one day.

You really do not know much about LSU basketball do you?

stooooooooooooooop. I know you want Randy to succeed and that's understandable.
Billy had a long career. 41 years at one school is to be commended. I'm confused by what you mean when you say he wasn't "given" a chance to coach at LSU under JJ??? I wish Randy well but running a recruiting service in Australia isn't going to move you up the ranks to becoming a head coach in the U.S.

Derrick Taylor belongs in the conversation there IMO.

Randy was 5-0 in the games he scouted and was told to only recruit during the SEC schedule, which he signed Brandon Rachal and Galen Alexander. Randy doesn't run a scouting service anymore and spends his time visiting college programs and NBA teams, learning his craft. He will coach again next season. LSU is paying him for another year. He was coveted by Mike Dunleavy at Tulane before he decided to come back to LSU. Wish they would have given him a chance once last season went down hill. His time will come. Sometimes these threads have people that have no fracking clue, just talking to talk.

I'll always remember the McDonalds All American game and wonder what could have been. He was awesome.

Was away for a couple days. To clarify for those who failed reading comprehension...I said Randy was the 3rd most "talented" player to,play in the PMAC. I'm not retiring his jersey etc. but the guy was probably the most or certainly Top 3 players to ever come out of Louisiana. ever. His court presence "dwarfed" that of Lonzo Ball who is off the charts in that category. Randy was better pre injury than jason Kidd.
Just the way it is. Derrick Taylor, Ethan, and numerous others were solid players and great point guards but No one had Randy's talent. You simply are clueless or have an agenda. Livingston and Henderson would have been the most prolific backcourt combo EVER if they stayed healthy. They were Dales last chance and the LSU hoops never truly recovered from the loss of those 2. I think losing greg Monroe to Georgetown put the final nail in that era.
Props to Randy. And please keep showing your lack of basketball knowledge and keep debating this.

For some perspective, only three people have been named the Parade Magazine All-American High School Player of the Year two years in a row: Lew Alcindor (aka Kareem Abdul-Jabbar), Randy Livingston, and Lebron James.

Rolling stoned. Are you stoned again? Had you said the 3rd most talented to play in the PMAC before his injury then we would have taken you seriously.
However, stats don't lie.
He only played in 29 games at the college level. He scored 14 points per game his freshman year for a horrible LSU basketball team and I mean horrible. That team went 12-15 overall and 6-10 in conference play.
His sophomore year he only played in 13 games and scored 6 points her game for a very very bad basketball team. the team that year went 12-17 and 4-12 in conference.
To say that Randy was the third most talented player to ever play in the PMAC is crazy talk.
He definitely could have been up there had he never been injured. Let me repeat.....had he never been injured.

Just to give you an idea on what big time production looked like from one of the most underrated guards in the history of LSU basketball.
Darrel Mitchell, Jr.
Averaged 35 minutes of play his junior and senior year for the Tigers.
Freshman year averaged 7 pts.
Soph. year averaged 12 pts.
Junior year averaged 13 pts.
And senior year while leading his team to the final four averaged 17 points per game while averaging 36 minutes per game. He rarely got off the court.
He scored 1600 points in his collegiate career.
I'm a Randy fan but his injury limited his production tremendously. That's the reason I can't put him near the top of collegiate guards that have played in the PMAC. Based off of high school stats sure he had all the potential in the world. Probably more than anyone else in the history of Louisiana High School Basketball, but the knees kept him from reaching his true potential.

Tremont Waters will be ranked very high before it's all said and done.
Hey Torris what are you up to these days?

throwing lobs at Glenn Oaks gym to you my friend. C'mon Lester. Louis has lost a step.

There are 3 guards on this team alone as good or better than Torris Bright
Posted on 1/19/18 at 12:36 pm to Lester Earl
Lester name me one guard on our current roster that has had a better career than Torris had while at LSU. Tremont will be in that convo, but he hasn't played enough basketball yet. Please name me the other two guards on our roster who have had better careers at LSU.....I'll hang up and listen. Don't give me potential bull shite. Give me real stats.

Skylar Mays SOPH
11.6 PTS 3.4 AST 4.0 REB 2.0 TOV 45/35/87%
Torris Bright SOPH
10.8 PTS 4.1 AST 2.8 REB 3.8 TOV 41/36/72%
Waters is better than Bright ever was, and had Brandon Sampson not been fighting injury, he would be too.
Torris Bright was a compiler. Never lived up to the huge hype.

Torris Bright was a PG. Brandon Sampson is a wing. Your comparing apples to oranges.
Torris was also excellent at on the ball defender something none of the guards on the current know anything about.
Let's look back at Skylar Mays career after his senior year.
Torris' freshman year LSU went 28-6 and 12-4 in the SEC. 10 points per game, 3.7 rebounds per game, 2.3 assists per game.
Torris also ranks in the top 10 in the history of the SEC in assists. He finished his career with 544 assists. Skylar Mays is light years away from those numbers. Torris was a mainstay as far as minutes were concerned during his time at LSU and was super steady. 10 points her game his freshman year, 11 points per game soph., 13.4 pts. junior year, and 11 pts. per game his senior year.
Tremont Waters is on a differenct level no doubt, but he won't be here four years.
Randy Livingston could have been great had he not went down with knee injuries. Can't rank him near these guys as he barely played 1 1/2 years in the PMAC.
