We can only pretend to know his mind. It’s all speculation that probably won’t end well for those heeding it. Saying that, I would be overjoyed if he decided to do it.

I'm pretty consistent. He likes retirement BUT coaching is in his blood.
I really think $15-20 million a year for three years would do it. That is generational wealth. I have no doubt some LSU supporters would foot that kind of bill, not for anyone else but would for him.

I think he's a decent guy. Driven like crazy. Hates mediocrity. Doubt he needs more $$$ but his agent might. But Saban's a decent man. He could rationalize LSU gave me my first big break and now I can return the favor.
But I don't hold him in as high regard as most. At least three of his nattys are asterisk'd:
'11 - had no business being given a mulligan
('12 - given a cushy schedule and almost wrecked it)
'17 - again, given a mulligan
'20 - won the Masters at Webb Park. Whoo hoo.
In reality, hasn't won an authentic title since '15. He was the greatest recruiter in CFB history. But in this era, that advantage may be somewhat neutralized.
He would certainly make things interesting.

It makes no sense for him to come to LSU unless he just wants to BK us which I don’t see him doing.
1) He has nothing to prove
2) He doesn’t need the money
3) He hates coaching college football the way it is currently
4) He hates dealing with boosters wanting guarantees and players wanting pay raises
5) He is 74
6) He would become a direct competitor to the school who built him a statue and named their field after him. You think he’s going to even remotely tarnish that legacy by knocking them out of the playoffs?
7) He quit on top
Add to that, there’s no way 74 year old Saban has the fire he used to have.

But if I were to suspend disbelief and try and assign some reasoning to why he would come i would think its a pattern of regret with him. He left for the NFL and less than 2 years later rumors came out he wanted back in at LSU (and he pretty much confirmed those rumors in interviews after his retirement) but couldnt bc of the success Les was having. So he found Bama. Now he's retired and less than 2 years later he could be having those same regrets. And DeBoer is doing well.
All of this "love for LSU" and nostalgia and stuff for him would just be bonus. He regrets not coaching, and LSU just happens to be the best job available. Its too perfect to pass up.
