lol based on what? Pacing, roaring, etc. are more a sign of stress than enjoyment. Not sure how you think an animal with extremely heightened senses would “love” being in that environment.

I think Missouri Waltz is wrong.
The high temperature in New Orleans on January 1, 1959, was 49 degrees. That crowd is clearly not dressed for sub-50 degree temperatures.
It's definitely Tiger Stadium and not old Tulane Stadium, which had more of a curved seating structure and was a good bit further from the field.
It's a badass pic, though. Back when the student section went much closer to the 50 yard line. They started pushing it more toward the enzone in the 70s. I remember every year it would seemlingly get pushed a bit further away from the sideline until it got to be where it is now.

Had to sell those prime seats to corporations so they can leave at half time.

You've got to be kidding me. I didn't know that. Do you mean that Auburn fans don't yell War Eagle and have one fly around their stadium before games? I've been misinformed.
they also call themselves the "plainsmen"

I was there in a late 50s - I'm sure the start of the student section seating was on the upside of the 20 - maybe as far as the 35. never an empty seat.

The student section also extended to about the middle of the North End Zone until the eighties.

How many times do I have to remind you people -
…that the last Mike to attend games used to LOVE getting in his travel trailer-it was a break from the cage monotony, like a dog getting excited for a ride in the car- he was eager to take a ride, see the sights….
… UNTIL THEY STARTED SHOOTING THOSE FIREWORKS RIGHT NEXT TO HIM!!
Explosions and fires are scary, even to tigers… after a couple of tins he would not get in the travel trailer anymore. His handlers KNEW it was the fireworks that scared him; if the idiots insisting on shooting fireworks would’ve just moved them to the other freaking end of the field INSTEAD OF IN TWO ROWS RIGHT UP AGAINST THE TIGER CAGE, FFS…. we would STILL have our Tiger on the field and then parked outside the visitors’ locker room
for games. TRUE STORY!
I would gladly trade not having ten seconds of fireworks display for preserving our tradition of having our Tiger at home games, and nobody could say it was animal abuse if the Tiger wanted to go….

Where are you in the pic CB?
I’m thinking my dad is probably in there somewhere.

Anyone that thinks it’s inhumane for a tiger to be in a cage for say 1.5 hours, and say 7 days out of 365 days in a year…is an absolute pussy. My cat hated to be put in a cat carrier to be taken to the vet. But guess what, he did it.
Please tell me that you’re joking. There’s no way you’re so ret**ded that you think a house cat and a mfing tiger are comparable.
