What if the wedding couple acts like adults and gets over someone else’s choice to do something with their day they enjoy?
Someone’s wedding day isn’t their day. They chose the date and others can choose to attend or not.
I think people are making it way more than it is.
The author is the woman it’s about.
America’s plea: Please stop getting married during football season
One woman who gets it.

America’s plea: Please stop getting married during football season
quote:
Now, don’t get me wrong, it’s not that we don’t support your nuptials. We do! We’re thrilled that you found Tommy on Tinder and that you chiseled away at his commitment issues. And we’re incredibly excited about partaking in your open bar. We’d just be more excited if we could consume the libations from said bar during… well… not football season. And before you label us unreasonable, we’d like to point out that football season is but one tiny scintilla of time. February! March! April! May! June! July! August! The world is literally your oyster!
quote:
And again, we don’t mean to belittle the gravity of your moment. We really are happy for you and are totally invested in your union. It’s just that we’ve only been following your coupling for a few years, while we’ve had a relationship with our team for decades. And we can’t divorce them. We may wish Ebola on the coaching staff from time to time, but annulment is not an option. That’s how deep our commitment runs. And when you get married during football season, you’re asking us to break that commitment. You’re asking us to effectually cheat on our spouse. And, I mean, we’d never wish that on you.
One woman who gets it.

agreed.
but, to melt like this over the situation is comical.
Alright frick stick. If you've ever been to an LSU football game you know it's more than just a football game. it's a chance to relive old memories, see old friends, and enjoy some great Louisiana culture. And it only happens 7 times a year and it's only been getting more difficult and cheapened by a greedy administration. There are 52 weekends to get married. I understand there's other factors but I don't think it's that asinine to be upset at this. LSU football games are a huge investment for a lot of people and a much needed break from life's stresses.

Why am I a frick stick?
I agree with your point.

Go to the game. That is your wife’s Best friend, not yours. Yeah she will get pissed but she will get over it. If she doesn’t you marriage is doomed anyway.

Whatever you decide to do....blame Coach O.

You’re such an edgy cool dude.
Do you purposely take the other side on every fricking thread posted on this site?
It’s not about your life “revolving” around sports.
It’s about an event that happens just a couple times a year.... pre fricking scheduled!
And to really narrow it down .....there are 2 huge games that most every LSU fan wants to be a part of... Uga and Alabama
Be considerate of the nunerous guests and take into consideration what’s going on in others lives.
When I got married, My wife and I wanted the biggest group of family and friends there to help us Celebrate this day as possible ... so of course we took into consideration what was happening before we set the date.
It’s not that difficult of a concept to grasp.

I had three weddings last year during the season.
Wifes friend during Mississippi St game.
Wifes friend during Florida game.
I was the best man in my friends wedding during the Arkansas game, but luckily that was a day kick off.
One of my wifes other friends is getting married early November next year, but I think it misses Bama by a week.

Why is it on the people celebrating the biggest day of their lives to that point to worry about how a bunch of their extended family feel about a football game?
How about the people invited to the wedding show some damn respect for the couple and make an adult decision.

Ahhh okay
I mean I know from time to time I can be a frick stick here. Not ashamed when people need to check me.

quote:as another poster said, it's more than just sports. LSU football is a cultural and social event. Some of my best childhood memories (and some adult memories as well) involve LSU football.
some peoples' lives don't revolve around sports.
College football at LSU (and generally throughout the South) is part of the social fabric of the state.
So it's more than just watching 22 guys chase a ball around a field. Most people who grew up in the South understand that.

Except it's not a math problem. If you're so self centered that you'd rather skip a family member or friends wedding because you want to go to a football game then they probably scheduled it that day on purpose so they wouldn't have to deal with you.

Wife's best friend is getting married on the same day as the Georgia game. What in the holy hell. Should I just get sick? RSVP as "Sorry you're dumb. Not going"? Blows my mind. WWYD?
Had a cousin getting married in October of 2014 the day we were playing ole miss and stormed the field after the big 10-7 upset win.
I ended up going to the game instead of the wedding and storming the field that night

Dude... you miss the point.
It’s not about me missing. Or you missing... or half the guest list missing.
It’s about the person who sets the date not considering what else is happening on the date he or she sets.
Once again, it’s not that hard of a concept to grasp. ... apparently you are struggling with it.
