If we are confident that LSU is in no matter what, and we really don't want to play Alabama in the BCSNCG, then it seems to me that we should actually root against all of the SEC teams in their non-conference games today (Florida against Florida State, Georgia against Georgia Tech, South Carolina against Clemson, Vanderbilt against Wake Forest). These should weaken Bama in the computers vis-a-vis Oklahoma State, because they have either played these teams (Florida, Vanderbilt) or many of their opponents have played these teams (Georgia, South Carolina). Of course, these SEC losses would weaken LSU's computer scores as well, but that probably doesn't matter.
Agreed. It is a little hard for me to root for LSU's computer score though. Georgia and SC losses are pretty minor hits to Bama's SOS.

Matt what would we want to happen to assure that we make it to the NC if we happen to slip up against uga?

1) Well the only teams with a chance in hell of passing LSU are Bama, Ok State, Va Tech, and Stanford. We would want any of them to lose.
2) Oregon is a big game. Not only does it help our SOS but also keeps Stanford from winning the Pac 12.
3) Any SEC over ACC matchup today. Also any of our opponents (e.g. WKU over Troy)
4) Whatever it takes for WVU to win the Big East. Having LSU beat 2 BCS conference champs has to be a good sell

Will Kentucky beating UT help?

That's All I Care About !!!!!!!!!!!

Pretty short list. Did I miss any of consequence?
If (and this is a mega if) the ACC sweeps the SEC this weekend, Penn St loses, (A&M already lost), and one of Bamas rent-a-wins lose..
Does Oklahoma jump Alabama in the computer polls, if only temporarily?

Oh they definitely could in a couple, but it would be temporary if we assume that Ok State needs to win.

It would probably help if UK finally breaks the streak and beats UT - Bama played UT and not UK. Same deal if Wake Forest beats Vandy.

Reposted from a thread I started last night.
Kentucky and Wake Forest are just as important as Florida State, as far as computer wise.
Also Matt do you think any chance that KSU could pass a 1 loss Bama in any of the computer polls? They are really the only team that seems to have a shot.

Figured I would break down what to root for if you don't wanna see a rematch. I have 6 Oklahoma State BCSNCG Ticket Reserves so that should pretty much tell you my stance. We obviously want Oklahoma State to gain a stronghold on all 6 of the computers over Bama and want them to gain as many human votes as possible.
Here is what to root for on Saturday November 26th
in order of importance IMO
1.) Auburn over Alabama - Obviously the most important and easiest way to get Bama out of the title game.
2.) Virginia over Virginia Tech - VT is the biggest threat of taking away human votes from Oklahoma St.
3.) Notre Dame over Stanford - Stanford is also taking some of Oklahoma States votes in the polls but may lose some luster during Championship Week.
4.) Wisconsin over Penn St. - Alabama's biggest win of the season is over Penn State.
5.) FSU over Florida
Wake Forest over Vanderbilt
Kentucky over Tennessee - All three of these games would hurt Alabamas computer score.
8.) Georgia Tech over Georgia
Clemson over South Carolina - While this wouldnt effect the computers, my logic here is that if the SEC has a down week, with a few teams losing to ACC Opponents, it will make the SEC appear weaker to some of the human voters which could help them to use as an excuse to not vote Bama #2
10.) Kansas State over Iowa State - I think Miami losing to BC pretty much rules out this theory, but Kansas State is one of the few schools left that had a very very tiny chance of jumping Alabama in one or two of the computer polls.

I don't see where they could do it. Bama already is above them in all polls and AU > Iowa State. Plus, they would need it to happen in 2 polls to matter (1 would get dropped). Even with all the SEC upsets, that seems close to impossible.

Penn State and Tennessee losing helps - Vandy winning hurts - but those games don't seem to be as important as having Va Tech and Stanford lose. And Va Tech ain't losing today.

Looks like a Bama quality win (PSU) is going to be losing some value. Wisconsin in command right now

It seems like most folks are hoping that LSU doesn't play Bama in the NC game.
I don't understand this. If everyone hates Bama as much as they claim to, what would be better than beating them twice in the same year?
I get the whole "they already lost at home, so they don't deserve a rematch" argument, but does anyone really believe that Bama isn't the second best team in the country? I know a championship is a championship, but I can't think of a better way to cap off such an amazing season than with a NC game against one of our most hated rivals.

I am looking for Okie St. to play LSU in BCSNCG.
Therefore, wouldn't an Okie St. win against a Top 10 team look better (and thus help their human poll votes) than a Va. Tech win against a lower tier Top 25 team?
I appreciate your insight on this.

I'm not opposed to LSU beating Bama twice in one season...but if that does happen Saban just might have a stroke and I wouldn't really want that to happen.
