Im saying you have no data to back up your opinion that playing 3-6 pre conf OOC games against better teams actually makes a difference in SEC play. There should be alot of evidence of this.

Show me the evidence that it doesn't help if it is so cut and dry

I'd like to see better teams come to the Box. I think a bunch of fans would; maybe then actual attendance would be a bit closer to paid. I also think, at least historically, there is some precedence for tougher schedule=more prepared team. Look, the SEC is very good, but it's baseball, not football we're talking here. The Pac 10 and Cali teams are as good as anything around here, and they play each other OOC a bunch. And it doesn't seem to hurt them much in seeding, having a few extra losses on the record.

In fact...role players getting to play significant time can really help the team. It's just a matter of perspective really.
what about trying to fill open positions with players that will have to hit SEC pitching? how do you gauge that vs teams like Holy Cross?
and pitchers that will have to pitch against SEC hitters?
do we want to find out in back to back weeks vs CSF and Florida, or know what you have before that?
what about raising the level of play from our veterans by playing better teams?

and as a former ball player, you didnt feel better prepared for better teams in your conference after you played better teams early on in a schedule, rather than shitty teams?

I can't believe a this ridiculous thread has lasted this long. LSU just won a National Title two seasons ago with this very same format for pre-SEC play. Get a life you fools debating the intricacies and facets of our pre-SEC schedule. Jesus H...

Who are the "great" SEC pitchers? I thought that Lefty Holy Cross pitcher on Sunday was a pretty damn good pitcher. Besides a couple UF and Vandy starters..who are the "great" SEC pitchers?

That was a veteran team who had been to Omaha the year before

As a basketball and football player...maybe a little...but as a 1st baseman/hitter...not really. But i would say the change in competition was only minimal..so maybe i cant say with confidence.

what kind of question is this?
i think it is safe to say that the pitching we will see in the SEC is much better than these teams we are playing right now.
it's irrelevant who the great pitchers are. The pitching on a whole is on a whole different level.

Most likely.

You said the same thing above...but OK...doesnt really mean our batters will hit better because they see better pitchers during a weekend series before SEC. Now I do believe playing a couple of months in the SEC helps when Regionals/Supers comes along...a little at least.
TCU didnt play anybody last year and went to the world series. Freshman Purke was undefeated during the regular season playing nobody...and yet...still went undefeated in regionals/supers/CWS.
