I guess we need Landry to open his stupid mouth and say more stupid shite about LSU athletics so he has to make up for it by helping to lure a new coach to LSU (again)

When does the Will Wade obsession end? He's an above average coach, would probably consistently get us into the Sweet 16. I don't project LSU becoming a basketball school, so maybe that's good enough? I just don't understand the ceaseless pursuit of Will Wade.

Offensive ppg and SEC ranks in the Wade era:

17-18: 77.5 (3rd)
18-19: 80.4 (2nd)
19-20: 80.5 (2nd)
20-21: 81.8 (1st)
21-22: 72.6 (7th) - this was the year our defense was dominant. 2nd in SEC.

Man. Yeah you poor thing. Having to sit there and watch that.

I think the Wade haters overhype NC St as a prestigious basketball school a bit. They're the 3rd best program in their state and the gap between them and 2 is huge. The gap between them and 4 (WF) is not.

They do have 2 titles but the last one was in 1983.
In the last 20 years they have just 2 more ncaa tournament appearances as us and one of those they werent going to make it until they won their conference tourney. That same year their fluke run continued and they went to the final four... but thats their only appearance in the final four in those 44 years since their title. We've been twice in that time span.

If the argument is support - sure. NC St's revenue share program provided $1m more than LSU's did to their respective basketball teams. I'm pretty sure that difference and then some can be made up to lure Wade away. Our athletic department as a whole generated over $100m more in revenue last year than nc st did. 223m vs 120m. Almost double the revenue - they're not gonna be able to out-bid us if we really want Wade.

I’m telling yall now. He will be offered the job. I don’t know if he will take it but he is the first choice.

He won't. He's in a better place now in terms of commitment to success.

You know…I bet you can slurp WW’s baby batter in NC. Nothings stopping you from heading up there.

Career record (11.5 years across 5 schools): 258-110 (.701) (top 10 highest career winning % among active coaches with 10 years experience)
Never had a losing record in what will be soon be 12 seasons.
7 NCAA Tournament appearances (would be 8 if 2020 tournament wasn't canceled)
SEC regular season record: 55-33 (.625)
Career winning % at LSU: (.673) (second highest in the history of the program among coaches who coached more than 2 seasons)
Led LSU to the SEC Tournament final for the first time in 28 years
Tied the NCAA Record for largest single season turnaround (+19 wins compared to prior year) in his first year at a school (McNeese)

Take the name off the resume and LSU fans would be screaming to hire a guy with that level of sustained success. Yet, put the name on the resume and somehow he's just an "above average" coach whom LSU can do better than...despite NOT doing better than for the better part of 30 years.

Is Wade going to be LSU's next HC? I would put the chances of that below 50%. But IMO, it's much more confusing how people DO NOT understand the desire of many in the fan base for a return. The only logical conclusion is that (a) such people aren't really big basketball fans to begin with (which is fine...but it kind of discredits their opinion) or (b) they just want to take a contrarian position for the sake of doing so. Otherwise, what fan would not want to bring back the ONE coach in 30+ years who engineered the longest consecutive period of winning in the program?

It's a byproduct of an agenda combined with general ignorance of the basketball landscape outside of a little bit of knowledge about LSU basketball. Fans who haven't really followed basketball all that much for the last 4 decades see the words "North Carolina" and "ACC" and reflexively think "much better basketball program". In addition to what you laid out, NC State's average ACC finish since 2000 is 8th. They haven't finished higher than 3rd in the ACC since 2004.

And for a "much better basketball" school that supports basketball so well, it seems odd they are paying their current HC LESS than LSU is paying it's HC...which is the lowest in the SEC...because he's produced the worst results in the SEC during the course of his contract.

NC State is a good program. No one is saying otherwise. But to act like it is some blue blood over the course of the last 30 years is absurd. That would be the two programs just a few miles northwest of its campus.

NC State is not a destination job for Wade, he wants back in the SEC, and as soon as McSuck gets fired, the offer will be made to him, 100%.
