If he makes some much much needed changes, definitely yes!

Outside of QB, LSU has good talent now,
I don't agree with either part of this. We do have talent at QB, but I think our talent on defense is severely lacking, or at least not suited to our needs in the SEC.

just poor coaching. I don't see Les being able to put LSU back as Elite team.
This I agree with.

IF the head man can't coach and make the correct decisions, the assistants can't pull him through by themselves. He can still overide their decisions and counteract their thinking. All head coaches have to make decisions during tough times, and I question his decision making ability.
Les has proved to me that he can't coach defense for sure and I think his decision to stay with Lee so long has hurt the team morall and faith in the system. Then take the embarrassing performance by the defense and you can see the whole team is down, uninspired and in a downward fall. Losing sets in easily and it is hard to get the winning ways back again.

QB is at least as much about experiece as it is about talent. We do have talent, but at the same time didn't have anyone able to step in and play even average the entire year.
Defensively, we are very talented. We had so many breakdowns that made us look very bad. Put a good DC in there with a good secondary coach and all of a sudden our guys look super talented again.
We could use an upgrade at both safety positions though IMO.

No...based on both the X's and O's coaching as well as the character building LSU seems to be doing (or not doing)this year. Bama and Florida are awsome, and looking like they will only get stronger. Even if LSU improves, it seems like they will be like the Auburn of 04-07, just a little brother.
Of course I hope this is not the case and a lot can change if we can in fact haul in the recruiting classes we are looking like we have and some changes are made toward the top.

No, the magic carpet ride of taking over a program that Saban was building came to an end for Curley this year. He was left to play his players - players who had three years of his coaching and lack of attention to details - and the proof is in the pudding.
We're headed back to the middle of the pack in the SEC. Florida with Meyer and Alabama with Saban will be beasts for years to come.
Nice run (VERY NICE RUN) while it lasted, though.

NutsforLSU:
LSU has the entire D-line back from 2007 except Dorsey. The entire OL from 2007 is back and was supposed to be the most dominant in the country.
Here are some of the young and untested playing.
--Chirs Hawkins All State
--Patrick Petersen (#1 ranked CB in the nation)
--Jai Eugene rated in top 10 CBs in 2006.
--Charles Scott was Mr. Football in La.
--Keiland Williams was one rated as top 10 RBs.
--Richard Murphy was rated as 3 star recruit.
It goes on and on though out the roster. IT is because of the returning talent LSU had on Defense that caused them to be ranked #2 in the nation earlier. Do you think they rank teams that high if they don't have quality talent? LSU has finshed in the top 12 in recruiting for the last 8 years or so.
Your statements about lack of talent indicate you are misinformed and maybe you need to keep up better. LSU's problem is clearly Coaching and it is not football Talent as anyone can see that.

Les won't be here for a few more years if he doesn't win big next year. He makes too much money to be allowed to be mediocre.

Exactly. To watch him pass it on 3rd and 1 yesterday, challenge the pick by Peterson in the Bama game AFTER he called a time out, has really brought me back to reality when it comes to his coaching ability.
There is a reason Michigan did not even call to gauge his interest and why 11 players had to be kicked off the team in Gundy's first Post Miles season at OSU.

This was a very talented team, maybe not enough to seriously contend for an NC, but certainly better than a 3-5 conference record. Even the QB situation what it was, those guys all knew since the SPRING that RP would not be there, it is not like RP got thrown off the team in mid September.
This was a waste of talent, and I hope not damaging enougth to affect recruting. Miles has next year and he has to do something big.
