The lawyers and the judge all believe WW was referring to money. I'm thinking the NCAA will as well.

The full context — and what Wade meant by “what you need” — isn’t made explicit in the portion of the call read in court, though both defense attorneys and a federal prosecutor both indicated they believed Dawkins and Wade were referring to payments of some type.

Do you have a link where the judge also provided a speculative opinion on what they might have meant?

So what you are saying is this didn’t happen.

You do know Bruce Pearl said he wasn't talking to the NCAA, and there isn't anything they can do about it.

I am saying the NCAA can't compel Bruce Pearl to talk to them. Neither can they do that with Wade. They aren't a court of law, they can't issue subpoenas forcing you to speak to them.

Yes they can.

But then again that is not what happened with Pearl. Get your facts straight

The coach is the agent of the university when it comes to recruiting. He/the school can't defraud itself. That's Dawkins argument. That the schools are participants so it's not fraud. Pay attention.

The NCAA does NOT need a "canceled check" to ascertain guilt. And BTW

Do you work for Compliance?
You seem to have a lot of knowledge, what do they need.
I remember when there was a hot prospect in South Mississippi, Assistant Coach Abernathy was found with a satchel of money in the car while on a recruiting trip. No smoking gun!

Dale was quoted in an SI article in the mid-80's saying he went to see a recruit with a suitcase full of money....but he changed his mind (or so he said in the article) and left. An offer was made or he would not have been there with the suitcase.

Unlike the FBI, the NCAA doesn’t have subpoena power. The enforcement staff can’t catch coaches doing much. But if the NCAA can prove a coach lied to the NCAA, the Committee on Infractions will respond with extreme prejudice.

Reports are Bruce Pearl did JUST enough to keep his job.

Really makes you wonder how much money LSU paid Ben Simmons to come to Baton Rouge and be a complete waste of space.

It was whatever his godfather's salary was.

The real question is how much did Nike spend on Blakeney pulling him from Adidas and Louisville.

Nike pulled some strings and had the guy who was trying to expose their misdeeds arrested.

We know Dawkins has completed his testimony, and it appears Wade's name never came up.

Sometimes you just have to swallow your pride and know your place, as Avenatti found out the hard way...

yes and that would not have happened with a ad with balls and a coach that could keep his mouth shut.

According to the NCAA, yes it does. The NCAA can now use statements from a criminal proceeding.
