How many defensive guys have ever won it? Woodson? I can't think of another.
The sports writers can barely fake their respect for a strong defense. They love points and yards.

I think HBadger should at least be invited to NY this year. HT winners cause their team to win and especially is that true during hard games. Think about it, we trailed by 14 points -- and suddenly in a period of 4 minutes we scored 21 points and never trailed afterward. 7 pts off of the pt return and 7 off a fumble he knocked lose. Billy Cannons HT was won on tbe strength of his pt return.
Who are you going to give the HT to this year -Richardson of AL -- he did not deliver a win for ALA over LSU. LUCK did not give Stanford a win over OREGON. His body of work exceeds all others -- from his first touchdown over Oregon to his contribution win last night. He is the HEISMAN WINNER TROPHY IN 2011 if I voted.

Nah, we have too many playmakers to ever have to rely on 1 player like auburn, bama, Michigan etc.

they want to give it to a player on the best team in the country. he would have to have big plays in every game, but its doable. i think desmond would back him.

Who cares??? The Heisman is an over-rated popularity contest, anyway. Give me a BCS trophy any day over that garbage.

JRuss should have been in the running with McFadden and Calvin Johnson in 2006.
