The out of state teams brought tons of fans. Tulane typically had a large crowd, which stayed for UNO. AT that time, UNO fielded very good teams and their games were well attended. As usual, LSU opted out for monetary reasons.

IF attendance was so good outside of LSU, why did they fold just because LSU pulled out? Pretty obvious that LSU was the cash cow in all of this...

Needed three teams, big competitive teams. LSU was obviously one of six in each series.

Then why didn't they get Ulala?

You know damn well without LSU they wouldn't make money and LSU is what made those showdowns successful.

So, why not replace LSU with UL-Lafayette, La Tech, etc?

Neither was all that consistently all that competitive and are further away for their fans.

Financially, they were not all that successful. Now baseball-wise, they were.

BS>... pure and simple.. nothing compared to when LSU played....

I walked up to a Tulane/UNO game in Early 80s. when UNO was best baseball program in the state - this game was basically for a spot in the NCAA tourn... at UNO... perfect weather.. MAYBE 1000 fans...

You just proved everyone else's point. The thing shut down because it was a financial bust without LSU.

When my mother graduated from USC their Finance and Accounting programs were worth a damn

This is the truth. When the contract came up for renewal, LSU asked for more $ because they were losing revenue from having less home games.

How could it be a financial bust without LSU when it never existed without LSU?

They were not all that much of a financial success with LSU was my point. Might be now with Zepher Stadium.

Not sure how USC has anything to do with this thread. I did not go to USC. Born and raised in BR LA and NO LA.

bandwaggon or...his homoerotic ways werent accepted by LSU fans so he had to find a fan base where he could be accepted. I cant figure out which one led him to the dark side, or if both did.

Played in it in early 90's for USM. We swept UNO, Tulane, and LSU. Lyle mouton hit one into the 3rd deck against us. A bomb for sure.
