its not "butting heads" if you tell the OC you disagree with a play call at X moment in the game, it comes with the territory. No head coaches just rolls with every single play his OC calls.

We see this from time to time, but the subject was in the context of recruiting for offensive schemes, and with that, you end up with a bunch of pieces-parts that don't fit just right.
Chavis for instance is going with speed and is forming a D around his sheme.
Imo, Miles gave GC same leeway, but realized it won't work in SEC. I think this year is a reflection of more Miles involvement with O.

LSU's future at QB is unknown. It appears a bit scary but a good JUCO pickup would certainly help. Either way, 2012 is going to be a bit frightening at QB

Though I am not sure how badly it would hurt. LSU is unsure at QB right now and if the defense is solid and the running game gels, it could pretty much nullify the QB problem. Same could happen in '12.

FSU still hasn't recovered from losing/failing to replace weinke

You can't be serious. Weinke left and they had major QB recruits Chris Rix, Wyatt Sexton, Xavier Lee and Drew Weatherford who were all big time recruits. None of them lived up to their billing, but FSU got them to campus. Christian Ponder is the lesser know of the QB recruits and E.J. Manuel was a top recruit as well. They've had the big time recruits, they just haven't panned out.

Plus, Louisiana hasn't really cranked out a decent QB since Ryan Perriloux.

True, and this one guy appears to be a necessity. It could happen, or another JUCO could come available after next year but if it doesn't '12 will definitely be a rebuilding year or a year to work around the QB position, like this year.

Looks bleak, but stranger things have happened.

and they all fricking sucked

RP, Lee and JJ were big time recruits who have failed up to this point. RP and Lee were elite 11 guys

and we don't even have a weatherford/lee in the wings. JJ/Lee...that's it

As far as not living up to the hype - sure.

But at least they didn't get kicked off their programs, thus mucking up the QB situation...

We don't need a 5 star QB.....we need better play from whatever QB plays. Matt Mauck and Matt Flynn weren't the cream of the crop, but we won national championships with both of them. We have blue chip recruits at several positions riding the bench right now. I love LSU, but I realize that our problem lies more with coaching than it does with talent.
