For there to be a pullback, he has to quit buying.

Thanks for the info. So are the #s you used below real or just used for the example? Just wondering if 775 is an actual target and what people are using as a potential marker for where this can go soon. And does it get higher as he buys more? So essentially it's like a carrot on a stick.

The convertible strike price was a 55% premium over yesterday’s close price. So if yesterday closed at $500 (using round numbers), the bond holders are not in profit until MSTR share price is $775 or higher.

Wanted to bump this. I've been checking in on MSTX this morning and seems like a way to get more juice out of this bet. Just wondering if any concern/negative with going this etf route. Especially if looking at it from a day/swing trade option.

Anyone buying the 2X ETFs for MSTR?
MSTX, MSTU, any others? Looking at aftermarket #s looks like MSTX is popping a higher percentage.
Anyone buy the short ETFs like MSTX or SMST when they think they'll be a drop like today?
Just looking to see if anyone has experience with these ETFs and if they are easy to get in and out of it anything to look out for with these.

Those are trading vehicles not investment vehicles. I’m not a trader so I leave them alone. They fall in to the bucket of “if you have to ask, they’re not right for you”.

No, not at all. The market is acting like he can buy BTC at 1/3rd the price. That’s a very big difference.

Thanks for that. I am looking more for a trading avenue while I play in this pool.
I get the 'it's not right for you if you need to ask," but I'm asking to learn so that it can be right for me or not. I'm not playing with money I can't afford to lose or retirement money. I'm trying to learn more.
I asked a while back on here about good practice simulators. The consensus was to take some real money and toss it in the pool and learn to swim. I started setting some aside, and that's what I'm doing. Jumping in and learning to swim. Why I'm asking "stupid" questions to learn how to at least float.

Read the PR. Real strike is 672

You did a great job of explaining this.

Or use ThinkOrSwim and paper trade instead of losing your own money. That would be a lot smarter and that's how I'm planning on learning to day trade.

Thanks. I did read it, but really not sure what it all meant.

Ok thanks. Im frankly just collecting terms to look up to learn how it connects. I don't have a finance degree, and just a regular slub trying to pick things up. Many times I get certain parts, but not how it connects to other parts. Which I'm trying to improve. Thanks for the help.

Which was an option, but I'm not losing money. And not using money I can't afford to lose. I saved up money to start doing this. I don't gamble or do much of anything else with my money, so this is something that intrigues me.
I've made a few buys since I've started in OCT. Im currently up in the low 20% range. I have one that has stayed pretty flat, but the others I have been up on. Including on this one. *Knock on wood* it continues
I think this avenue gives me the natural "gut feeling" that the paper money option wouldn't. Ie....I woke up yesterday morning and my gut said to set a sell limit at $500, but I didn't. I learned I need to listen to it more. I could have sold and made a nice profit, and bought in at the end of day. That's the kind of thing I'm trying to teach myself to do. I look at it as I'm using real money to get real life experience. I'm just trying to get a better feel of indicators by asking questions of people that know way more than I do.

can you explain the trade here? did you have a short dated way out of the money call option? told myself to do that after the election... and i did not.

Are we looking for a continued drop at the opening bell? Futures were up 12%, but have continued to fall closer to the bell

It's one of those things where after weeks or months of cramming research you start to finally understand it. It's a good brain exercise.

quote:No, these were long dates calls purchased in March of 2023 with expiry of December 2025. The thought was: the ETF was eventually going to happen, the Halvening was going to happen, the 4 year cycle was probably going to happen again - and if bitcoin got a spark lit under it any time over the following 2.5 years from March 2023, MSTR would rally. Sure enough, the stars aligned and here we are. MSTR was trading around $30 when I placed that bet. Still have a bunch of those calls left that I will strategically sell out of over the next 3-6 months

This looks like good consolidation to me...
Added 3 more shares yesterday afternoon in the upper 3s
