MSTR arguably a trading buy here.

Everybody loading up? If you loved it at $543, gotta REALLY love it here at $251...right?

Just so we have the facts: on the day MSTR traded $543, bitcoin traded $97K.

Presently, bitcoin is at $87K.

So that would be: Bitcoin, down 10% and MSTR down 53%.

I only cite those stats for those in this thread who always act like it's obvious that the stock is somehow an obvious function of bitcoin price itself.

First look at this company-I look at the website and see they're some sort of cloud reporting company, which has a lot of competitors. But I also understand they have something to do with Bitcoin.

If people are looking to invest in it because of Bitcoin, why not just invest in a Bitcoin etf?
Can someone spell out what this company does and why they're so hyped?

Real short, and in part, it’s a publicly traded company and many people and institutions either don’t want to or can’t(for various reasons) buy and store bitcoin. So they buy MSTR for the bitcoin exposure.

Think some foreign people/companies, insurance or pension funds, etc. They can buy MSTR bonds and get Bitcoin exposure.

Why not just buy a bitcoin etf which there are many?

For many reasons.

MSTR is essentially leveraged Bitcoin, some folks like that. MSTR CAN trade at a premium relative to its Bitcoin holdings. MSTR can raise debt and purchase more bitcoin in different ways, some of which don’t immediately dilute shareholders.

These etfs also exist, which you could multiply with options and or get with futures.

Seems like a lot of hype with low fundamentals to me.

Edit-Appreciate you commenting though

It's barely levered at all - like .2X. This is a tired and false talking point.

Not just CAN, but DOES. That's the main reason why it's dumb. Who would ever seek out to pay a premium for an asset they can buy at spot in liquid form?

Another silly talking point. Not to mention, many investors can take out their own margin loans if they want leverage.

This absurd post is why I keep posting in this thread - people are coming her for info and being fed utter nonsense.

"It's a levered bet on bitcoin" - some dude somewhere.

He’s just self leveraging his own company. Some buy it hoping BTC rises, then there’s the other group that buys into MSTR’s new take on corporate bond issuance that Saylor exploits as interest free loans to fund additional BTC purchases

I guess the real test will be his next capital raise. Because, the people that were once excited to buy his bonds for a promise to receive shares at $1,000/share in five years, will be a lot more hesitant after a major share price drops than they were when it was gaining 500%/yr.

The rest of the bag holders will start getting antsy when those bond holders begin massively diluting shares if the share price stagnates.

Even if his theory is sound, it’s temporary. The guy is just a middleman, and the product he sells requires both parabolic increases in BTC and MSTR’s stock price. If either falter the dream collapses under its own weight.

Said by me back on 2/25 and I was right - it was up ~30% before cratering back even lower ($232 presently).

I'm less confident it's a buy this time. What say anyone?

I am a big MSTR holder. I have been buying MSTR for a while, my avg is about $320 for over 500 shares.

I bought more this week, driving my DCA down. I bought today at $232.

There is obviously the potential for this to go lower, I don't care as this is in my ROTH and this is part of my retirement money. I'll just keep buying.

When capitulation happens and it will. People are sick and tired of seeing their dollar manipulated. The BTC flip won't be slow and gradual, it will happen overnight, and you won't have time to get in. And when it takes off, the sentiment will be I'll just wait for it to come back down, which it won't.
