Anyone here ever trade the VIX?

The VIX is up very little off of pretty long term lows and given all of the background noice I could see volatility coming over the next 30-45 days.
If I wanted to, what would be the best way to proceed? VIXY is interesting but it erodes quickly. Calls on VIX and VIX ETF’s have very little volume (maybe I’m looking at the wrong ones).
Is this fools gold? Is there a smart way to play? Curious as to the MB’s opinion. TIA.

How would you play the VIX? If acey-ducey is your game, Polymarket or Stake probably offer it.
