Spend on our business credit card is 250K+ per year.

We've been with american express for many years and never carry a balance. Fee is $95 per year with no limit, but also basically no benefits/cash back/rewards, etc.

Anybody recommend a good business card with some decent rewards?

I've been using the Cap One Business Spark for 2% cash back for the past year or two. I used to use Amex. I do a little over $2M on it every year. $40k tax-free money is nice.

Cap One Venture x business
Chase ink business preferred

Both of those will earn you points that you can transfer to partners for some pretty sweet travel experiences.

If you really want to get technical and maximum rewards/points, you need to use several different cards to maximize your earnings on different categories.

Amex business gold for gas and restaurants (4x)
Chase ink business preferred for advertising, travel, internet, etc (3x)
Cap one x for everything else (2x)

The best way to help you on business cards is to break down your actual spend, as you can get 2x, 3x, and maybe 5x on certain items. For example, I may put 4 hotel nights a year on my business card so me having a hotel rewards card really is almost pointless, now if you do a ton of travel its going to make a lot more sense potentially.

Really the big benefit is to churn cards and get a new card every 6 months or so to rack in the bonus offers. But it all really depends on how much you want to hustle.

$250k is easily worth $2500-5000 though in points.

$250k a year with an Amex Platinum, their travel partners, hotel portal and transfer bonuses is a difficult thing to beat. Plus all the other benefits of the card.

Oh, there's a limit based on your spending patterns. I used to put about $1.5M a year on our company Platinum card and it certainly had a limit.

Thats all i'm trying to do really. I dont want to overcomplicate it. I'd be thrilled with paying for a few hotel nights and a couple flights per year.

We’ve got the Ink Business Premier. It’s straightforward, 2% cash back/points on everything, 2.5% on transactions over $5k. Spend about $400k on it with inventory being 95+% of that.

I need to reevaluate because I have a personal Sapphire Reserve and the Business Premier is the only Ink card that you can’t pool/transfer points with, but the other Ink cards can’t give me 2% back on inventory. So in the end, I feel like Chase is saying “Hey if you’ve got time to manage and have diverse spend categories, we’ve got options, but if you’re just pounding through expenses, it’s hard to beat this 2%.”

Have booked hotels 5 or 6 times through the Travel portal and paid with points with no issues. Then I just cash out otherwise.

I’ve gone back to using my own.

Our concur pics come in fuzzy now and the AR manager is now authorizing expenses.

She rejects, and then sends them back week later and then I am late on payment with cc in my name.

I started using my own card again. And get an email saying we are mandated to use company card.

Called owner and said all sales reps’ Credit gets dinged when she gets all Karen about pics. Like….damn woman. We aren’t skimming. We aren’t paying for Amazon shite. Authorize and send reimb like now. .

Damn. You have me beat by almost double.

I will say though I am getting more value of my 1mm spend per year (points) than you are with your 40k cash.

OP - you want to cycle through cards. You don't need to be loyal to one.

Trevor has been used by a few guys here. Check him out.

IMO, the best angle would then be to evaluate your statements for the past 1-2 years and see where you spend the most money. Find the card that rewards that the most. For my company, it is shipping costs because while we don't have a ton of shipments, they are all heavy.

Once you realize what card works best for you, find a card that you can transfer the points to (I use Chase Business Ink and transfer to my Chase Freedom) so you aren't using your business card to book personal travel. If you play the game a little, you could get a nice 50k-200k point boost.
