Converting my childhood home into an AirBnB. So far, it's just taking time to get things fixed/renovated. Having some trouble finding an insurance company for landlord insurance. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Your homeowners doesn’t allowing rentals?
ETA: Proper is one used often. Are you not using a broker? I haven’t heard of this being an issue if you used a broker to shop it?
Fudge Insurance is a broker in Orlando that specializes in Vacation Rental insurance

Been with Shelter for years. Get an umbrella policy.

It will be tough to find a carrier that allows short term rental right now in FL. Proper does it but their premium will be outrageous.

I’m not arguing I’m just curious why you say this? I’m sure it doesn’t make it easy but I haven’t heard of it being a problem nor expensive. There’s like a million vacation rentals in Florida, someone is insuring them

Arguably the worst time to open up a new STR

It's in Louisiana, not Florida.

Dog, you have at least three insurance agents in this thread that can help, but first, you gotta give some info.
Where is the home?
LA as in Nola?
LA as in Lafayette?
LA as in Shreveport?

The OP needs to be a bit more vague. Too specific so far.

Home is in New Roads, LA. House is approximately 100 years old.
What more information do you need?

You come in here looking for suggestions and genuine advice and yet you make snarky remarks after people just saying the obvious thing about providing more information to assist you.
Don’t be a jerk.

Paul,
My apologies, I really was asking what other information you would need. Wasn't trying to be a jerk!
Thanks, I really appreciate it.

Best bet is umbrella insurance policy. Prepare to pay an insane amount.
