I have attended several seminars that have advised against selling mineral rights. I would make sure I had done my research before doing that. Didn't want to intrude just don't like to see people taken advantage of.

OK, here is where we are: T12N, Range 6W, Section 12. Make sense?

Do you think it makes someone an expert because he has attended seminars? Some of the stuff you hear at those seminars is not only flat out wrong, it's harmful. Point being, who is taking advantage of anyone here?
I find it laughable that the wealthy sell mineral rights all the time and Oilmen sell mineral rights all the time. Even *I* have sold mineral rights! Yet some blowhard (not you) who thinks she's a Haynesville shale expert is featured as a panelist at area seminars. She and her like spout junk like that. It's just wrong. There is nothing on the planet that is not for sale. No one is taking advantage of anyone. Selling mineral rights allows one to get CASH, a sure thing, and sell off some of the risk.
Everyone in the arklatex is not going to get rich. There will be much money made but there will also be much money lost.

Anyone interested, I cannot do business on this board; it's not the place for it. You'll have to contact me.

Samson drilled a well to the shale (Muslow well 12-19N-15W), and they are currently fracing it.
Any news on this well...I have land at 32-19-14.
Thanks

selling mineral rights is a terrible idea, its not like the Haynesvills Shale is the only gas producing part of the area. There are other producing formations as well. DONT SELL YOUR MINERAL RIGHTS. Every person I have talked to that has sold their mineral rights in the past has regretted it. GET AN ATTORNEY. If you have an attorney and make a decent leasing deal you pretty much eliminate most of the risk if not all of it. So don't be an idiot and make irrational choices that could screw you, your children, and grand children.

MSESH,
I looked up your info on Sonris and it shows that there has never been a well there and there is not one currently permitted.
I was trying to think of a way to explain the Township and Range layout to you. I think that the sections look like this:
6 5 4 3 2 1
7 8 9 10 11 12
18 17 16 15 14 13
19 20 21 22 23 24
30 29 28 27 26 25
31 32 33 34 35 36
A section is one square mile, usually. There are some townships that have more than 36 square miles but those are the irregular ones.
I just checked and this chart did not come out right, but it will give you a general idea.

Well you better look again on Sonris (Sonris Lite) because there have been three wells drilled in Section 8, Township 10 North, Range 9 West including the current Encana well which is drilling.

Tigerdog,
Msesh was wanting to know about 12n, 6w, Section 12. That is the one I looked up for her.

Oh, sorry then. Thought you were talking about the Messenger section. My mistake.

Tigerdog,
It seems that your mistakes are few and far between.

Justbill,
what is the difference between what you do and what an oil & gas attorney does?

Why do you care? You've already insinuated you know more than me.
Do your own deal. I don't need your business. I stand by what I said... everything has a price... certain situations dictate that selling minerals or a portion of the minerals is the prudent thing. To dispute that shows you don't know much about the oil and gas business. Apparently, you know more than all of the rich people I deal with who are eager to sell and all of the oilmen, including myself, who have sold minerals.
