tesla invented a roofing material that is a solar panel.
its going to make Tesla a trillion and change the electricity paradigm as new homes are built with Tesla roofing, and people choose Tesla for the replacement roofing.
I paid $6,000 for an ordinary 30 year roof two years ago. damn.
I coulda been a contenda.
my middle sister bought into Tesla years ago. She has made a fortune.

quote:Just so you know, with dividends reinvested XOM has returned 9.5%/year compounded from 1996 through 2016.
its ok you oil guys can sit and circle jerk while exxon and chevron return a couple percent a year,
Why are you so angry that I or anyone else owns XOM?
How does me owning XOM hurt or affect you in any way?
I sense, based on your anger, your reaction to quit the Money Talk Board because some posters don't share your emotional views about TSLA and your several comments about the down votes you receive, that you have some serious insecurity/inferiority issues.
Your tantrum to quit the Money Talk Board is like the little boy who gets mad and wants to take his ball and go home when the other little boys won't let him be quarterback. If you want to take your ball and go home just because other people, who you've never even met, don't share your love for Tesla, then you're just being weird.
Dude, grow up.....

tesla invented a roofing material that is a solar panel.
The solar material they hope will be used for roofing material is not yet in production. They "plan" on it being available by the end of this year.
As far as pricing, the company has not announced how much it will cost.
Like literally everything else Musk does, he announced the "solar roofing material" more than a year before it will be available and started taking orders.
He uses the opposite of Apple's strategy of keeping new products a secret and then having a grand announcement of the release of the product.

As I've said before, I like DBF and his posts, but yeah his obsession with being downvoted on a message board is hilarious.

It really is. I don't understand the purpose of the up/down votes so my attitude is "who cares?"

Same here. Surely he realizes the more he complains about it and shows that he cares, the more "downvotes" are gonna rain down.

What am I missing here?
In short, many posters cannot handle DBF's Narcissistic Personality Disorder because he will put up instead of shutting up.
Me personally, I welcome it because he has provided some good info. He just needs to be able to handle a little criticism every now and then.

It's a solar cell under a sheet of glass with film in between to give it its color. And two of the four tiles will be available this summer. Below are real pictures of all four tile types. Game changer.

As I wrote, it is not yet in production.

So the bottom line is Tesla will be making money off of rooftops in the near future?
Posted on 5/2/17 at 8:15 pm to LSUneaux
I have no idea. They haven't even released the price of their rooftop solar tiles yet.

According to the article, installation of the roofs, not production of the tiles will begin this summer.
The quote you have is in the context of defending what Tesla initially planned for the production, as some are saying they are behind schedule:
quote:
When Tesla unveiled the solar roof concept in November 2016, they had 4 different types of tiles based on current roof styles and they said that they will start production of the first one in Summer 2017 and then release another one every few months.
It means that at least one or two of the styles would have been released in 2018. Therefore, the plans haven’t changed.
The article goes on to say:
quote:
Sources familiar with the program told Electrek that Tesla plans to open orders for the first 2 tiles in the next few weeks for installation in the next 2 to 3 months in the US. We should learn more this week.
I'm just saying roofs are supposed to start being installed this summer

Considering that Tesla has never met a single target date for any product (no kidding, there are numerous articles on that fact) I'll have to see it to believe it.
I wish they would release some technical data on their solar tiles such as how much power an average roof will generate, expected degradation rate, durability (people have to walk on their roofs to blow leaves off), how these new tiles compare to power generation of the traditional roof solar panels and price.
This may be what I've been waiting for regarding solar generation of electricity for my house. I'll keep checking on it.

Announces Investigation of Securities Claims Against Tesla, Inc.
Rosen Law Firm, a global investor rights law firm, announces it is investigating potential securities claims on behalf of shareholders of Tesla, Inc. (TSLA) resulting from allegations that Tesla may have issued materially misleading business information to the investing public.
On May 3, 2017, The Wall Street Journal reported that the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission is investigating whether Tesla’s SolarCity division “adequately disclosed how many customers have canceled contracts after signing up for a home solar-energy system.”
On this news, shares of Tesla fell sharply during intraday trading on May 3, 2017.

Tesla First-Quarter Results Top Revenue Estimates, Miss On Earnings
Tesla (TSLA) reported first-quarter earnings after the market close Wednesday that missed Wall Street estimates.
Tesla reported revenue of $2,7 billion, beating the consensus estimate of $2.6 billion. But the luxury electric-car maker reported an adjusted loss of $1.33 a share, exceeding the 81 cents a share that Wall Street expected.

These hit pieces are likely in an effort to scare retail and bail out some shorts. I doubt there's any merit to them.
That said, Tesla is still wildly overvalued and wall street is obsessed with them.
If the bears go savage on this it could be a buying opportunity as a long term hold.

These hit pieces
The SEC announced today that they are investigating the reporting to the public the order cancellations of Tesla's solar company. ETA: Were the cancellations disclosed properly?
I didn't link or quote that news because it was referred to in the Rosen Law firm article which I did link.

the run up to earnings is the go-to play by the MM these days
AMD, FB, TSLA, BPMX all with the same scenario, rip up in anticipation of earnings and then dip down afterwards; glad i exited FB and TSLA when i did

Yeah, TSLA is down 2% in after hours trading now to $304.67 after being down 2.5% (-$7.87) closing at $311.02 during the day.
ETA: I'll just leave this here without comment.....
