Puts have been going up in price as the price of the stock has gone up today. Lol.

Just closed out my calls. What a ride. Largest amount of money and largest percent gainer I’ve ever made on a trade. May have left money on the table but I feel we are approaching the end of the run

The fortunes allegedly minted via Tesla options have, naturally, corresponded with a surge in their popularity. The 10-day average call option volume more than doubled since early December, as has the underlying security. On Monday, 1.8 Tesla calls traded for every S&P 500 call, the biggest gap on record according to data compiled by Bloomberg.
There’s an element of circularity at play, but this activity may be contributing to the rally in the shares. When a trader buys a call, the dealer who sells it will typically buy a certain amount of stock in the underlying to offset their exposure. If the shares continue to rise, dynamically managing that hedge can entail increasing purchases.
“So, now you get the picture, that every day at the open lately, folks are grabbing call options quickly and driving the stocks/indexes higher,” writes Scott Murray of Volatility Analytics. “It is much easier for this kind of market to be unhinged, as long call holders’ corresponding dealer position is long the underlying.”

Basically, if enough people buy calls premarket it pushes the stock up every day? Did Bloomberg really need to point this out?

I wonder if the people he's doing these calls with are covered calls or not

Are these calls covered?

Covered meaning the people selling the calls already own the shares or if they will have to purchase them at the current 940 price and resell them back to him at the 450 or so price.

if he is longing calls.. then no, I doubt they are "covered." that would just be a spread.

I know what covered calls are. I was just deciphering the question that you replied "huh" to. Carry on.

i will say...
scalping $tsla 1min options the past 7 days or so (long calls or puts..holding ~10-15mins...30mins tops).
i'd had my best known single daily gains and my two best weeks (it is premarket wed right now) in the 20+ years i've been effing around the markets..
already got the yacht but i'm seriously considering renaming it to "TSLA"
up/down is irrelevant...that mofo picks a direction and simply MOVES..
it is definitely the american moneymaker right now.

After closing my calls yesterday I bought some way OTM puts just now. Maybe I can get a nice hit on the downside. Smaller plays with end of feb exp

I meant to ask you in the trader thread, how often do you trade options intraday or scalp them, long or short?
Posted on 2/5/20 at 9:55 am to southernelite
Yep, if I had to guess we settle around the 600ish level, maybe lower
Posted on 2/5/20 at 10:00 am to thatguy777
Sold some at 900+. I'm hoping it drops below 700, if so I'm back in with my profits.
